sins and fate

ok i needing sum help from the gs brothers and sisters. i have always been very confused about this, and till this day no- one really knows the answer to this .

Basically nothing happens without the will of allah, your fate is decided whn u r born into the world. Therfore, whn we do bad things, or whn ppl do things like jadoo, yes the devil plays a part, but then nothing happens without the will of allah, if jadoo works, or if we do something bad, it was written that was what we were meant 2 do anyway

whn we pray to allah to help us or just generally, how does that make a difference since our fate has already been decided,
so wht im trying to say is that everything has already been decided, allah controls everything??? i’m so confused plz any1 explain this

Re: sins and fate

tweety_pie,
excellent post.
i am no expert and perfect musalimah, but this is what i have to offer as a perspective.

think of it this way. prayers are icing on the cake, the cake is your hard work towards some thing that you want to obtain or push far way from yourself and the icing on the cake is your prayers that help you ask the Almighty God to listen to your heart and what you would want to have happened with God's help, because it wont happen without it.

for instance, when in illness someone is run down and weary, fate has done its work, but there is no sin, esp when there is no sin on the part of the one who fell ill.
disease takes its time to heal.
hurting individual takes his/ her time in recognizing that he/she was in error, and while this happens, the fate and the sin is already taking a toll on the individual.
the prayer by someone who is now a pure person, and now a dedicated helpless being, is heard by the Almighty as a request to have mercy.
being believers, we cannot ever undermine the power of prayers.
in fact, prayers are the ultimate source for help in survival.
there is this solid parameter that no matter whether prayer is made, the ultimate that happens is predestined. but, the prayer is also acknowledged by Allah swt and it happens on Allah's time!, when Allah wants it to happen - what you ask for.
the requirement is that prayers are offered and made, with a clean heart and a mind that fully recognizes the power of the Sustainer - Allah swt.
hope this makes sense.
best,

Re: sins and fate

we may have a pre-set destinations, but we choose the path. We will be questioned for that choice of path and our intentions

e.g. it is destined for your kids to get food tonight. instead of working honestly, you decides to steal some money and fed them.

That choice of path is what differs us from, let's say, angels. Their destiantion is set and also the path is set for them. Same with animals. That is why there is no judgment for animals or angels.

Re: sins and fate

^ thanks for sharing this. indeed, wll power is with humans and that is their test as well both for acquiring the good fate to the extent that they intend good deeds as means to noble ends and for avoiding all kinds of sins.

Re: sins and fate

A person asked similar Question from Hazrat Ali (r.a) as he entered the Masjid. Hazrat Ali replied " Lift your one foot in the air". He did so. Hazrat Ali (r.a) than said, "Now lift your other foot in the air". He replied "I can't" (while being in the same position).

Hazrat Ali (r.a) said. This is the difference between fate and your efforts. Allah has given a part of it in your control (so that you make choices of good or evil) and the rest Allah has kept in HIS own power ( The way things happen other than your expectations).

In the end everything boils down to your intentions (Niyyah) and how much you "tried" your level best under the "Circumstances" which were provided to you. The efforts matter, not the results as that is not in your control.

AND Allah already knows who is going to do what, like (example for our limited mentality) While a father is adressing his sons, he already has an idea which son would obey him more, on the basis of past experiences. Similarly a teacher already has an idea that the person who used to work hard in the past would take the top 5 positions in the exam
