China has really been Pakistanis only consistant "friend" since 1947. They gave Pakistan nuclear weapons, and it was always Chinese intervention that stoppen all out war with India. Today China is almost single handedly developeing the Gwadar deep sea port - granted it has the alternate purpose of threatening Indian oil shipping across the Persian Gulf.
In fact even during the last crisis between Indian and Pakistan in 2001 (after parliament attack) it is widely beleived in the intelligence community that North Korea and China rushed missile components to Pakistan in case there was an outbreak in hostilities.
The eventual clash between China and India over scarce resources is inevitable, the only real question is will it be far enough in the future that Pakistan and India will have normalized relations?
I suspect that might be the case since India and Pakistan seem on the slow and steady path towards conflict resolution. The recently announced Gas deal with India and Iran is a strong indication of this.

**China donates 120,000 USD to Pakistan for relief work **

ISLAMABAD: The Chinese government and the Red Cross Society of China have donated 120,000 US dollars to Pakistan to help in its hectic relief efforts.

These are the first two donations coming from abroad since Pakistan has been devastated by floods and avalanches in the country.

On behalf of the Chinese government, Chinese ambassador Zhang Chunxiang transferred a check of 100,000 dollars to Pakistani Cabinet Secretary Ejaz Rahim in Islamabad on Tuesday morning.

At a brief handing over ceremony, Zhang said learning the sad news that heavy rains and snowfall in certain regions of Pakistan have caused heavy human and property losses, he would like to extend his deep sympathy and condolences to the affected people and the bereaved families.

He expressed belief that the people in the affected areas, under the leadership of the Pakistani government, will soon overcome the difficulties and rebuild their homes. Rahim said the Pakistani government highly appreciates the goodwill of China, saying the donation is the first coming from abroad since Pakistan has been hit by continuous torrential rains and heavy snowfall in the past two weeks.

“China is always the first country to offer its help when Pakistan is in the hour of need and it is a country close to our hearts,” he said.

Earlier Tuesday, on behalf of the Red Cross Society of China, the Chinese ambassador transferred a check of 20,000 dollars to Pakistan Red Crescent Society. Jahan Dad Khan, chairman of Pakistan Red Crescent Society, said the donation again showed the traditional and tested friendship between the peoples of Pakistan and China.

Local reports say flash floods in southwestern Balochistan province and avalanches in other provinces and regions of Pakistan have to date claimed over 400 lives and left about 2,000 people still missing and tens of thousands of people homeless.

No. we remember very well that we lost a war aganist China. We study this chapter at our schools. Unlike our ultra special neihgbor who has converted all humilated defeats at our hands into self styled victories.

Wasnt that the time that they came with the slogan “Hindi - Cheeni bhai bhai” and then stabbed us in the back.Or was that China who did it ??

China is best friend of many countries in the world. If you drive through Africa, you will find highways across many african countries build by Chinese assistance. It is providing assistance in building their railways. It is devoloping Africas oilfields, mine, power generation, China has made huge investment in African banks to finance its foreign trade. Its assistance in health and eduction is significant. It contributes to human resources devolopement and giving training to thousands of people. China is also providing military assistance to africa, since now one can find Chinese built military trucks to military aircraft in Afirca.

The list of Chinese friends is long. Who is best friend of China among them? Zambia, Zimbabwe, Uganada, Sudan, Namibia, Ethiopia, Siree Leonne, Ghana, Angola, or Pakistan?
