^ its still more acceptable for guys to be living alone, than Girls i think....just look at all the dudes who move from pakistan to US (or UK/canada etc)...they usually live alone or with friends and not family
from that viewpoint - yes this is true. But I think a lot of girls that were born and raised in the west are living on their own for educational and career reasons. No matter what their background is (upperclass..middleclass etc)

It depends on the situation. I know some people who moved out of the house because they were sick of hiding things from parents, answering to them, etc., so them yes I would but I think if somone moves away for a better job opportunity or education than there is nothing wrong with it. But at the same time I can't stand those kids who move like 10 min away from their parents, are always hanging out at their parents but wont live with them. I think it shows lack of family values.
