Singapore

Hello guppies.

I need help for a friend from people living in Singapore if there is any on this forum.

I just received a call from a friend from Singapore. He is isn’t actually a friend but a former co-worker. He is
on working visa in Singapore, a Pakistani friend told him to come to Singapore and he will find him job, he did so. the friend is also Pakistani.

A month ago when he reached Singapore, his friend kept him at his home for a couple of days then asked him to shift to hotel, but telling him keeping his money with him in hotel is not safe so he will keep his money at home and will give him as he needs it.

He did give him a little for a few days then the Pakistani friend disappeared, later this guy found out that he is in Pakistan, and he went to his Singaporean wife, she gave him some money, less than 100SG$ and then she also refused to open the door for him.

Now this guy is sleeping on streets and has nothing to eat. I asked him to go to police and file a case against his friend, but he says people here are telling him that since the friend is a permanent resident here and also since this guy did stay in his house for a couple of days, that friend can file a case against him instead, and he will be in big trouble.

That friend of him is going to start a business of his own after he returns from Pakistan, which i think is a plus point for my friend cause that friend wudn;t want to get into legal trouble before opening a company.

I have just talk with the guy and am very very disturbed, i have sent out mails to different organizations, but wonder if they will reply.

If anyone here from Singapore can share a piece if advice for that guy, i’ll deeply appreciate, I am very very upset due to his call a while ago and don;t know what to do.

Re: Singapore

Ideally you should walk across to Western Union and wire him some cash, to see him through till his friend from Pakistan returns. Moreover if your friend is currently in Singapore on a regular Tourist visa he cannot be seeking employment, and any attempt to do so will result in deportation and perhaps imprisonment. If your co-worker friend traveled to Singapore with the correct employment seekers visa, he would be sufficiently educated enough to have kept his money with himself......
