I took Cathay Pacific from SFO. Ticket wasn't bad at all about $1600 all the way to Islamabad. I spent 5 days in Thailand at the cost of about $700 including hotel/foods and 2 days in Hong Kong at the cost of $400. The cost really depends on what kinda hotel you choose and what you do there. You can find a hotel for as little as $20 or can spend $200 per day. Food is cheap.

I went to HK around 10 yrs back. I know it must have developed more now. The two parts HK has HongKong and Colon. Stay at HK, you'll find plenty of cheap small hotels either owned by desis or chinese. When I was going, someone told me not to stay in chinese owned hotels, not sure why.
I didnt find local chinese people very cooperative. O ya and also be aware of local crooks who are on the street to rip off visitors.

This is about the HongKong part of HK. Colon is very beautiful and highly developed. Airport is also in hongkong and you'll have to take a ferry to reach colon.

I am actually looking to do this trip or a similar one where I can hit a couple of countries in one go.

I am looking for a travel company in Pakistan, which offers reasonable priced travel packages - so if anyone knows anyone please recommend them to me? Travel agents should be in Pakistan as I want to travel from there.

^ No, I was totally independent and made my own arrangements for the hotel/taxis etc.

I regularly do this trip. I take Cathay Pacific Karachi - Bangkok - Hong Kong - Los Angeles (return). Fare was $1600 when I went in November last year.

I love Thailand and Hong Kong. Both places are like a home town for me. Please be specific with your questions.... What are you interests, budget, likes and dislikes, period of stay, etc.
