My mom and I are planning a trip to Singapore at the end of January or February (depending on when I can get leave from work). Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels to stay at (5 star)? I emailed the Marina Bay Sands Resort but their menu is not halal and we need a hotel where there is a halal menu (as part of the fun of staying at a great hotel is the food!). I have emailed the Ritz Carlton and also Raffles and am waiting on replies but was wondering if anyone could direct me to any other options? Thanks =)
Just curious, but why does the hotel itself when to be “halal”? As long there are ample Halal options (high end as well) available elsewhere and nearby, does it really matter if it’s inside the hotel or not? Are you not planning on leaving the hotel room?
I’m going to Hong Kong/Macau/Shanghai/Beijing in July and I’ve already mapped out and found high end and low end Halal places or eat in all 4 places, regardless of the hotels we’re booking.
^ Because when we stay at hotels, we always book on club level with club lounge access. There is no point in staying on club level if you cannot eat 98% of the food on offer because it is not halal.
I stayed at the Fairmont - Singapore and had a fabulous time!!! Loved the hotel and their breakfast was ah-mazing!!
I ate out at Arab Street and had plenty of halal options there. But according to Fairmont’s website, the hotel’s Asian Market Café is halal-certified. That being said, I don’t know about the other restaurant’s in the hotel.
Thanks Sehrysh! How far is Arab street from the Fairmont?
Also, since you have been to Singapore, can you advise what's good to do there? Did you go to Universal Studios there? I have been to the one in LA and loved it so am considering the Singapore one too (haha I can be such a kid :p ) . Additionally , where is best for shopping?
I didn’t shop in Singapore - it was my last country on a 6 country trip, so I was only there for 2 days. After trekking through a lot of the other countries, I spent my time in Singapore spa’ing
As for how far is Arab Street - by metro, it’s about 15 - 20 minutes away, but I took the Hop on/Hop Off City Bus tour - and it was one of the stops.
Things to do: I got the overview of the city through the bus tour and did the Botanic Gardens and Singapore Flyer.
Thanks Sehrysh for the helpful info! :) We are going in mid January for 1 week and Iv booked Marina Bay Sands...just can't get past that infinity pool! The hotel informed me that they have one halal restaurant and at club level they have many options for afternoon tea, nibbles etc that are not all meat. So excited!
Stay in whichever hotel you like around Arab Street or little India and eat in little india/arab street area. There are tonz of halal options there. Oh and dont miss out eating at
