Mr. El-Erian makes a lot of sense. He says - if you have no exposure to the market, this is an ok time to start wading in and getting some exposure. If you already have significant exposure to the market, it may be better to wait for better opprtunitues which are likely to come.
Recently a person asked in the "Whither the markets" thread I think - what shoukd an investor do now. At that time snp500 had dropped to 1880. I told him this may be a good time to start wading in. Others felt it is best to wait.
But he cautions us from obsessing too much about the Fed.
Every once in a while we get good advice in the internets. Mr. Mohammed El-Erian is certainly worth listening and paying heed to.
But I don't think he floats like a butterfly anymore.

I thought he was one of the frequent-pessimists appearing at Yahoo... "sky is falling" in times when market was doing okay.

I have grown sick of headlines and people supposedly "analysts/economists" making headlines on Yahoo, sorry I don't keep a track of these "experts" statements anymore.

market is “doing ok” means it has gone up. If overvalued, that would be the appropriate time to caution investors. Not after the fact.
Right now he is.saying mkt still slightly overvalued (when at 1940). But 8f it drops more wouod be opportunity. And he implies there is chance it could drop.
He is consistent. He cautioned is in Feb 2 2015 with mkt at 2044. It dipped to 1880 recently good call. (The mkt was at 2130 few days before Feb 2. But he didn’t raise a red flag).

It is easy to be cheerleader when market “is doing ok”. He went against the grain. And was correct to an extent.

Some more good advice from El-erian this time April 7 when mkt was circa 2100. He exercises caution - proved correct.

I don't look for market direction related tips from the one who can't float like a butterfly anymore. He offers an overview of the economy which for me is informative (though I have yet to make a single move based on his discourses.
El Arian is like Ayurvedic medicine. He doesn't help much. But he doesn't hurt. For further clarification, please contact our MBA student-in-waiting chapter 2, otherwise known as the good chapter.
