So these British conquerors had this history of sending people in exile to distant areas.
What could be the reason behind such decision? Why they chose these places like Rangoon for Bahadur Shah?

kala pani is an actual place name with an infamous prison on the andaman islands, where the british sent political prisoners on exile from the 1857 revolt on.

^ that's interesting. Maybe the reason of Brits was to isolate their enemies, and they banished them to places where they didn't have support base. Same they did with their own prisoners, shipped them over to Australia.

Kalapani= Blackwaters

Could Bahadur Shah gain support in Kolkota or Talpur having a support in Punjab. They just wanted to know the rebellion that their power was spread in distant areas.
BTW, what was the exile destination of rebellion during Mughal era? I kinda remember Akbar sent someone to Makka.

In hindi belt, everything is literaly translated, so Blackwaters, like Modern day CIA Blackwaters might have got translated as KaalPani, those were cellular jails in andaman islands

Maybe the Talpurs could have established their support base in Punjab, as its not that far from Sindh or Balochistan. Kolkatta and Burma are far away.
I am not sure of the farthest exile destination.

Sending to Makkah was not limited to Mughals or Akbar, when muslim rulers needs to get rid of any possible opposition from their close aide or relative, they send them on Haj to Makkah, remember those days, travel to Makkah was not matter of hours or days, it was matter of months or years.. and by the time sent person returns, his power base was shattered... or his importance was only to be seen in historic events...
