So?
We are not here to please the kuffaar and make some sort of pacifist image for ourselves. The kuffaar will never be pleased with any tolerant or positive image which we make for ourselves, so it’s no use. Allah himself says in the Quran:
**Never will the Jews nor the Christians be pleased with you till you follow their religion. **(Surah Baqarah, Ayah 120)
Hazrat Ali (ra) burnt some atheists to death simply because they were atheist. Hazrat Ibn Abbas (ra) only objected to the method of killing, not the killing itself.
*Narrated 'Ikrima: Some Zanadiqa (atheists) were brought to 'Ali and he burnt them. The news of this event, reached Ibn 'Abbas who said, “If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Allah’s Apostle forbade it, saying, ‘Do not punish anybody with Allah’s punishment (fire).’ I would have killed them according to the statement of Allah’s Apostle, ‘Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.’” *(Sahih Bukhari- Volume 9, Book 84, Number 57)
These people are our example masha Allah. What makes us any better than them by tolerating kaafkrs?
And Islam spread by the sword. Even today we must wage war till the whole world becomes Muslim and this will definitely happen inshallah Allah when Isa (as) arrives and rules the whole world.

***Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Allah’s Apostle said: “I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah’s Apostle, and offer the prayers perfectly and give the obligatory charity, so if they perform a that, then they save their lives an property from me except for Islamic laws and then their reckoning (accounts) will be done by Allah.” *(Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 24)
