Sindh budget: Nawabshah, Larkana and Karachi get the same amount for development

All three of them get Rs. 2 billion.
Amazing. Look at the size of populations of these two as compared to Karachi. Look at the difference in resources required compared to Karachi. Look at the revenue generated by them compared to Karachi.
And yet all three of them get similar amount of money for development.

Out of 2 billion for Karachi, 1 billion 300 million will be spent on PPP strongholds, Malir (500 million) and Lyari (800 million).

Great job, PPP. You milk the city as much as you could, and won’t give anything in return, which is actually the right of the city.

Re: Sindh budget: Nawabshah, Larkana and Karachi get the same amount for development

What the heck! This other source is giving different figures. Now I am confused.

http://www.pkarticles.com/news/sindh-budget-2011-12-no-new-taxes-added

The development package for Karachi was announced to be Rs20 billion, while Rs10 million, Rs20 million and Rs2 million were allocated for Hyderabad, Larkana and Benazirabad respectively.

Re: Sindh budget: Nawabshah, Larkana and Karachi get the same amount for development

2 million is like 20 lakh rupees. figure must be wrong. 2 million cannot even build you half a mile of decent road.

Re: Sindh budget: Nawabshah, Larkana and Karachi get the same amount for development

In Karachi just Lyari, Keamari, Malir and rural Karachi get Rs2.2 billion, the article below doesn’t specify what other amount is allocated for rest of Karachi.

I think total package for Karachi is 4.3billion :hmmm:

Re: Sindh budget: Nawabshah, Larkana and Karachi get the same amount for development

Is Karachi allowed to levy taxes? I had read about it in Mustafa kamal's time but nothing happened. Pakistan needs a 3-tier american type of taxation system.

Re: Sindh budget: Nawabshah, Larkana and Karachi get the same amount for development

Your city pays the most taxes, provides most gdp to the country, is the financial powerhouse yet you get jacksh!t in return. It's embarrassing. I just wish Karachi would become its own province.
I just cant let some feudal from Nawabshah or Larkana control my city.

Re: Sindh budget: Nawabshah, Larkana and Karachi get the same amount for development

Unfortunately even the thaykaydaar of the city, MQM, did not say a single word on this budget allocation for the city.
I do think Karachi should become a province. A multi-cultural multi-ethnic province. But rest-of-Sindh will not give up the golden goose so easily. Shahbaz Sharif just hinted about it, and PMLN’s office were vandalized by PPP goons in Karachi.
So it is highly unlikely.

I would be very interested to know how they spend money in Nawabshah and Larkana. Something tells me that most of it will end up in wadera-pockets as usual.
I hope to see infrastructure development there. At the very least, they should improve law and order situation there.

I hope you are right.
