since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

Nice presentation…Its titled that it is for KIDS but really if you watch it the only things for kids is that the narrative is in a Childs voice…rest should be good information for adults, children alike!
and I think it is accurate in the facts presented…

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

Stupid idiots. Halloween is BAD. Halloween is EVIL. Kill all CHRISTIANS, JEWS AND HINDUS. WAR WAR WAR!! let us ride to WAR!!

Someone said on this forum that as long as the Earth rotates, we will be surrounded by idiots. The maker of this video is one of them.

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

^^ I don't think your reaction is a justified response to the presentation.
All it does is bring the historic perspective back to the fore for discussion

seems like your trying to leverage it to being some kind of an attack on other faiths...IT IS NOT...

Rather it is shows the paganistic and historic roots of the holiday.

Chill and DON'T MAKE SOMETHING INTO WHAT IT IS NOT!!

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

I suggest you watch the video you posted. Closely.

It clearly gives the message that Halloween is some kind of Shirk. ANd what's up with the guy when he talks about us having forgotten that Islam teaches us love and peace. Is he saying that Halloween makes us forget that message?

Clearly, Muslims have made Islam too difficult. Some people are of the view that everything in this world will anger Allah SWT. That is not the case. Islam is easy enough and simple enough to practice. I'm doubt very much that Allah will be angered by kids dressing up and going trick or treating.

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

^^ I did watch it carefully...
Lets end it there..
You are entitled to your opinion. It may or may not be correct as far as Islam is concerned, that will be decided on the day of judgement by Allah swt and you and everyone else in this world will see as soon as they die what actions were beneficial and what were not to their after life.

Those who seek the guidance of scholars to determine their understanding of the religion they practice will differ with you.

Thats all I can say.

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

okay, i just have one question, is it a kid narrating or just voice modified to make it sound like a kid?

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

^^ I think its a childs voice ..not modified however , its not as young of a child that the voice quality seems to indicate..

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

Halloween does have a rich cultural past and stems from a Celtic/Gaelic harvest festival. but it is thoroughly misrepresented in the video - not surprising as one should never trust missionaries to give you the truth about other cultures and customs. for starters, Samhain is not the name of a god, it is the name of the festival, and means "end of summer". whats the punishment in islam for spreading lies again?

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

People jump up and down when a video ends with Islamic Quote or Hadith. Shows the height of bigotry.

Here is the site which talks about how even conservative Christians believe Halloween not so good practice. The article answers those who
criticize Halloween, but does acknowledge controversies and accept that the matter is not so simple and straightforward as people are led to believe.

http://www.religioustolerance.org/hallo_sa.htm

Everyone should be entitiled to believe what is correct version in this matter and many of above posts are simply ludicurous in condemning or making a mockery of OP for no strong reason.

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

No need to get hysterical.

It is good to know what we are imitating before we do. If you have problems with the contents of the video (like queer mentioned) discuss those. Come up with a better, more accurate history of Halloween for the benefit for all of us so that we can decide if it okay to imitate what they do.

While hatred for people just because they are non-Muslims or non-Pakistanis can never be justified, blindly following them is not ideal either. Yes, Islam has been made much more complicated than it is but we should also remember that life in this world is not meant to be easy or luxurious. It is a test; tests are never easy and I sincerely hope we all pass.

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

I agree, but this test really isn't as difficult as some make it out to be. Fulfill the 5 pillars, have faith in Allah and be a good human being and In Shaa Allah we will pass. :)

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

thanks for the balanced viewpoints KB and also Diwana

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

I agree with you that Samhain is more the end of Summer or a season Marked on the 31st of October.
However, one error in someone statement doesn't make it a LIE.
It all depends on the intent. And intent is a hidden matter unless disclosed. To judge some one for their undisclosed intent is also a big error.

Those who created this video and sent it out very obviously were trying to tell people of their faith (islam) about the Prophetic command related to imitating people.
In this case imitating may very well be copying paganistic rituals and is not prescribed in the faith and hence they (muslims) are urged that they should reflect upon their actions more before taking part in this holiday.
Their error in quoting Samhain as a god, is very subjective since no one on this FORUM is a celtic expert, does not constitute their effort into a lie.

Peace on those who seek guidance (that includes me as well)

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

OK ! Trick aur Treat , empty your loot bags NOW ! :dixsi:

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

Too bad Halloween isn't celebrated in Pakistan, but I was luck enough to experience it in my childhood once when I was in the UK with my mum. I remember my eldest cousin took me with her around the block...

Only celebration in Pakistan are so-called "Halloween Parties" hosted by playboy wannabes if you know what I mean.

Re: since halloween is coming up - this is food for thought

^^ Please move to the west and fulfil your goasl and stop whining about pakistan...it has enough evils and problems in society...

Thank you.
