From what I’ve heard and read in the papers, particularly about the Mirpuri community in Bradford, a large percentage of marriages in that community are between cousins as the primary preference within their community is to marry within the family. It’s possible that this is part of the reason they don’t marry men based in the United States. I’ve also read that many of those marriages (enough to constantly be discussed in the papers) aren’t exactly voluntary (under family pressure).

Of course, this does not apply to everyone within that community though (at least, I would hope not).
