Simple foods

I hear this phrase thrown around alot (“simple khana banao”)…ermm…what exactly it means? does it mean foods that are for ppl feeling sick and dont want something heavy or too spicy?

If so…suggest me some simple foods? :bummer: I know khichri is one (if anyone can post a recipe i’d appreciate it!!!) what else?

Re: Simple foods

daal chaval

sabzi

Re: Simple foods

Simple means food that can prepared without fuss or too many ingredients.

Such as plain ol’ arhar ki daal and boiled rice.
Sabzee roti
[funguy, I’m not copying you ]
Aloo ki tahiri

stuff like that.

Re: Simple foods

Biryani
Qorma
Nihari .. that kind of simple stuff

Re: Simple foods

hmmm

So wht food do u make for a sick person? (i mean physically sick...not mentally)

Re: Simple foods

For physically sick you make patlee khichri out of moong daal and rice, yakhni of chicken...

Re: Simple foods

accha and how do i make khichree :? :bummer:

Hmm, it can depend upon who is saying it. If it’s a doctor or someone whom you know has some special diet requirements, then “simple” refers to food that is easy to digest, not rich/heavy/spicy, etc.

^Apart from the above exceptions, I take simple to mean somthing that doesn’t require much prep time. Example:

Khichri

Daal

aaloo goshth

keema

etc

Re: Simple foods

Simple means halka masala, halka namak and basically food like niks said

khichri
daal
saaday chaval
kam masalay ki chicken/fish
tehri
veggies made with little oil and masala

Re: Simple foods

food that has high nutritional value and less spices, salt and is easy to digest....like others mentioned, daal n veggies are good examples!

your list is incomplete. let me add to it

sheermaal
taftaan
roghani naan
parathay

let me add more

ROTI
paya
pasanday
fish qorma

Re: Simple foods

Steamed chicken or fish.
any vegetable that is without a lot of spices and oil and is not over cooked.

Re: Simple foods

my mom always tell me simple khana pakao and by this she means use simple procedure and simple spices.

she says that many recipes taught by chefs on cooking channels are deliberately made difficult just to make them look unique/different.
