ok here's a very special recipe :

Heat some oil and add zeera seeds and chopped green chillies , about two to three of them .. fry them a bit then add in two to three cups of water for every one and a half cup daal ... .. when the water starts boiling add the daal and let it all boil ..

Meanwhile , in a separate pot start frying thinly sliced onion , when onion browns keep it aside .. In the same pot take a bit more oil and fry garlic one and a half tsp ... after a minute add in the ginger again one had a half tsp ... when pour in half cup water and in that immediately mix in haldi half tsp , salt , red chilli powder to taste, I normally also add just one tsp of korma masala just for the added kick ... when the oil separates add in crushed tomatoes about 4-5 of them .. when the gravy becomes really thick masala ... add this to the daal which will have been 75% cooked by now ...

when the daal is almost cooked , add in the onions you had kept aside ... throw in some fresh corriander and let it all cook on low heat ...
After a while when you notice oil coming on top , its done ...
