Simon Jones

First of the guy is a BRILIANT bowler. After a long long long time I really like a bowler outside Pakistan otherwise my bowlers XI was full with Khan Sahib, Sarfaraz, Akram, Waqar, Qadir, Aqib, Gul, Rana and so on…but this Jones is someone who really impressed me. I have been hoping he could get well soon and gets to play in the final Ashes test. The English are so desprate to have him in the final test they are doing everything to have him fit before the Test. They put him in some gas chamber or something to recover is ankle injury.

If Jones gets to play I am sure England can easily either draw the test or win the last test to secure the Ashes. His bowling is so awesome, his action, his style everything is just perfect, can’t get enough of watching him bowl and that too making the Aussies dance on his swing. I am not saying Jones is the only person who can could help England win the test of course the English team contributes but having Jones in the team gives the English an edge over the Aussies and the Aussies know it too.

It would be awesome to see Jones and McGrath picked up for the last test and both team will be in such a balance that the last Ashes test will be another nail biting. Can’t wait for this Test to start…

Re: Simon Jones

gas chamber, they make sure they don't turn on the wrong switch ;) :D

Re: Simon Jones

Jimmy Anderson and Paul Collingwood have been roped into the test squad for the decider at the brit oval. Tremlett has been released to his county hants. If jonesy is not fit in time then, Collingwood is tipped 2 pip jimmy to the all important slot as; the brit oval is more than often a flat track which won't favour jimmy's swing bowling.

Re: Simon Jones

Ithink that either Anderson or Collingwood will be battered if they play the Aussies. If Jones is't playing the English will have a tough time getting the wickets they need to win

Re: Simon Jones

Simon Jones is one helluva bowler. He came onto scene just before last ashes and he was quicker than Harmison (around 93 mph continuously) but he unfortunately injured his knee. When he came back from injury last year, his pace was slightly reduced (understandably) and now he is inreasing it gradually. From last SA series, he has upped his status from a support bowler to a strike bowler.

Awesome :k:

Re: Simon Jones

its now confirmed from cricinfo that Jones will not be playing in the final test match at the oval. This decision was made after the fitness test.

Re: Simon Jones

So any idea who is replacing Jones...Collingwood?

Re: Simon Jones

On the other hand McGrath is not playing either so I guess both teams will be balanced to take on each other in Oval.

Re: Simon Jones

I guess McGrath’s status for the final test is not yet finalized. Infact they are optimistic that he will make it. But no one has ruled him out for the final test.

Re: Simon Jones

McGrath is going to play. He had good practice session.

Re: Simon Jones

Damn that is a bummer. He is THE star of the series along with flintoff. Lets see if other three English bowlers have it in them to dismiss aussies twice.

Re: Simon Jones

I wasnt in touch with cricket over the summer so i didnt get to see very much of him, but in last few days i have been able to catch some H/L’s of the Ashes mostly dismissals etc, he looks very impressive but the few deliveries that i saw from him dont really tell me alot about him, yeah he does seem to get some reverse and i saw in some dismissals, but to me most of it was OFF THE WICKET kindaa late movement where he uses the impact of seem on to the pitch and little bit of reverse to make it deadly,

I guess people who saw him live can tell if also can get the IN THE AIR reverse which wasim and waqar used to or not?
