Similarity of views, opinions, personality etc…
Is it necesarry to maintain relationships?
can’t we be friends with people who have different opinions and personalities?
Wont it widen our perspective or make us more tolerant to others views & opinions?

To an extent, you can be friends with someone who has different opinions and views from your own. But there should be something that you two must have in common. Something that will bring you two together.
As for different personalities, I believe it's quite easy to befriend someone who has a different personality from you provided you have some things in common. For example, I'm an introvert. My best friend is an extrovert.

It would be so boring if you and your partner/friend or whatever have the same opinions and the same taste in everything, it would drive me crazy!
It's nice to be around people with different personalities and different opinions as long as you don't impose your beliefs/opinions on them; I'm an extrovert and my best friend's and introvert (opposite of Marmalade) it's awesome and we're almost pole opposites but I lurve her :)
