Re: Sim with Data plan
someone using one share the experience please…?
Re: Sim with Data plan
they’re all the same crap.. close your eyes, pick one and be happy, don’t think too much you’re not naming your kid.
srsly if i went to pakistan, the least of my worries would be which cell phone provider to pick
Re: Sim with Data plan
I used the UFone service. I was using a TMbile compatible phone (Tmo and ATT data work on diff frequencies) and the speed was pretty good. I was able to make VoIP calls over that data connection as well.
Re: Sim with Data plan
Did you have a data limit? How much did you pay? how long did it take you to get the sim? Prepaid?
Re: Sim with Data plan
I paid rs. 1500. I believe it was unlimited data, and of that rs. 500 was for calls. I must’ve used about half of that. Now I can’t find the sim ![]()
Re: Sim with Data plan
Were you easily able to get the sim? Prepaid with 1500Rs?
Re: Sim with Data plan
Yes, I went to the UFone office on Shaheed-e-Millat road. Had to wait for a good 15-20 mnts (good opportunity for some poondi) and then they got it done. The guys at the counter took my fairly new Android phone and they knew exactly what needed to be done. I walked out with a working email client and the ability to reach out via voice calls.
Needed my CNIC
Re: Sim with Data plan
Whats a CNIC? ![]()
Yeh ill be using the sim with my android..Im not to keen on handing my phone over to the shop though. Wouldnt trust them them with my data. Not that i have any incriminating but you never know…
Re: Sim with Data plan
Re: Sim with Data plan
Alternative of CNIC is Passport
Re: Sim with Data plan
Ok, so what I understand from this thread is that you can take your GSM US based phone and get a pre-paid local SIM in Pakistan?
Mine is a iphone 4 from AT&T … I am not sure if it will work, since it is locked.
Re: Sim with Data plan
Unlock it through an online service provider - that way you won’t be restricted anywhere you go.
Re: Sim with Data plan
As long as its a tri-band phone (most phones these days are) and its unlocked, then yes. That’s true if you take the phone anywhere in the world.
GSM is an international technology. CDMA is just valid for US and Japan.
Re: Sim with Data plan
Where would I be able to get a micro sim for my iPad to use in Pak? Which provider do you guys recommend for someone who will be based mainly in Nowshera?
Re: Sim with Data plan
So im going soon!
Zong seems like a good option. Prepaid sim…with unlimited web for Rs 200 addon!not too bothered about calls!
Re: Sim with Data plan
any updates on this?
Im going in 2 weeks!
Need a fast connection on my phone…which network should i go for?
Re: Sim with Data plan
I’m currently in pak, and was surprised to see that no company provides 3G on phones yet! it’s ALL 2G when it comes to data plans - warid, mobilink, ufone, zong, whatever else is out there…3G service is available as wireless broadband, from PTCL as well as wateen, and they’re both equally good - signal strength might be better for one or the other depending on the area u’re in…
as for the phones - i’ve tried data plans on warid, ufone and mobilink…while ufone was cheaper than the rest, the speed was horrible…mobilink was ok…warid had the best speed by far, but then again their charges are higher than the others for data plans…
I hope this somewhat helps…best of luck!
Re: Sim with Data plan
that definately helps…DM
If your just browsing…have you tried the Opera mini browser?
I basically need my email and feeds. Cant live without them..even though im only going for 3 weeks!
how much do you pay for warid comparing to other networks?
