silsila naqshbandia awaisia

what does it mean if someone says they are from silsila naqshbandia awaisia? is it a sect? it would be a great help if someone could explain this. thank you

Re: silsila naqshbandia awaisia

It is basically a Sunni Sufi order that traces its master-teacher all the way down to Ali Ibn Abi Talib, cousin of Prophet Muhammed (God's peace be with them). It is one of the largest in following sufi order. Naqshband was the 14th century Sufi (from Uzbek) whose teacher was a Persian Sufi masters.

Each Sufi order has their own school of thought about best approach to connect with the transcendent reality and practice dhikr in various ways. It is not a separate sect.

Re: silsila naqshbandia awaisia

Naqshbandis are basically barelvis which is a sect. Not so sure about awaisia though maybe from awais karni?

Re: silsila naqshbandia awaisia

so they are sunni and follow imam abu hanifa? as I am.

Re: silsila naqshbandia awaisia

personally i follow the Quran, hadith, sunnah and then the khulfa e rashideen. don't pay much attention to the differences. all are muslims.
actually theres a marriage propoasal for a loved one and all seems good. it was mentioned they are from silsila naqshbandia awaisia and that has me totally confused. is it like following a peer or something?

Re: silsila naqshbandia awaisia

Peace autumnleaves

BigdaNawab is nearly correct ... All silsilas except Naqshbandis go back to Imam Ali (RA) ... Naqshabandis line goes back to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (RA) ... Silsilas or Tariqahs are spiritual orders of Islam. Naqshbandi Owaisis are a subgroup of the Naqshbandis. My wife had some experience with them I think. But from prior knowledge I think they tend to be Sunni Hanafis in Fiqh. Yes, it does mean they have taken a peer/shaykh, but there is nothing wrong in that and it depends how involved they are that will determine how much it will affect your loved one in their marriage. In practice what it means is that once a week or something like that they will attend a gathering to do dhikr. They are likely to choose to give sadaqah to help their group, they might ask their peer/shaykh to help choose names for children. So it does not necessarily harm the Islamic aspect, but they may have some obligations that might directly affect married life. What you normally might expect to be done by parents, such as azdan in ear of baby or tahneeq, that honour might instead be passed to the peer/shaykh to get extra barakah for the child. It would make more of a difference if the male side are from them or not ... If your side is the female side then she may need to consider being called to do helping for cooking duties when they have their gatherings ... Depending on the size of the gathering they may have 3 to 5 people with kitchen duties, but all the same they may choose to buy in food, but something to be aware of ... I am not trying to put you off as I am from a different tariqah myself, but you need to be aware of the arrangements they have ... All of this is done to help each human being deal with their nufs so it should make them better people. Here is what you should do.

1) Confirm directly with them whether they are Sunnis
2) Look at their power dynamics with their existing women in the household
3) Ask what role would be expected by your loved one in their household should the nikkah happen.

Then trust Allah (SWT) and recommend your loved one to go in to the marriage or not accordingly, inshaAllah.

Re: silsila naqshbandia awaisia

They be into peers and mazars and all that.

Re: silsila naqshbandia awaisia

thank you psyah for the detailed answer. cleared much of the confusion and now i have some idea of what things to inquire about.
JazakAllah Khair

Re: silsila naqshbandia awaisia

Naqshbandiya awaisiya is a deobandi offshoot of naqshbandi sufis. i said offshoot becuase their chain of transmission is broken, which is not with other deobandi sufis.

This is their chain.

PS: Just as information till 37](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=37) in above list deobandi and barelvi naqshandi sufis have similar chains.

EDIT:

Link of their website.
Shaikh e Tariqat

Normaly if the chain is not correct, there is a high possibility of deviation from haq.

Re: silsila naqshbandia awaisia

References or knowledge about transmission of tariqah knowledge from Rasulullah (s.a.w) to Hadrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (ra) and to Hadrat Salman Farsi ??
