silly season- key transfers in major leagues

Suarez is going to barca it appears
chelsea got fabregas and costa
arsenal signed alexis and may get debuchy

what else is going on, I have just started catching up.

Monaco, PSG, City, United, Scouse…what are they up to, same for real, bayern, dortmund etc.

City - lopes loaned out
Nasri signs new deal
Malanga signs for city

Liverpool - lallana signs. Markovic and origi potential signings. Spurs are sticking thier nose in the origi deal. Suarez is off to barca for 70 million. All cash. We should be able to make one world class signing with that. Our inability to attract top flight players is what concerns me

United - luke shaw signs. Van gaal doesn't want fellaini at united. Di maria is being linked to united and psg.

Chelsea - Cole gone to roma. Fabregas signs for Chelsea (never been a huge fan of Fabregas). David luiz goes to psg with talk of hazard following suit.

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

wow i did not know hazard was looking to jet..
fellaini got a haircut so many van Gaal will not recognize him :)

I am unsure of chelsea's style of hazard is out and fabregas is in.

Lallana i am on the fence about, but that is more based on him in england wc team..and yes i abbreviated it on purpose.

drogba coming back?

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

yeah he has been clashing with mourinho allegedly. Though i dont know where he would slot in at psg. You already have ibrahimovic occupying the number 10 role there. tbh i would start hazard over ibrahimovic. LOL fellaini actually had a semi decent world cup showing compared to his season at united. Still doesnt warrant a 24 millino price tag however imo.

Roy rodgson lost the plot this world cup and didnt know what he was doing. Putting rooney on the wing and taking him out of the central position is a sin. The FA need to look across the channel to the germans. The issue with england is the youth developement system is deeply fragmented from a grassroots level. It took the germans 12 years to get to where they are at, investing heavily in youth development. That gives rise to the age old debate in the epl of home grown players vs importing foreign players

Drogba back to chelsea? thats news to me

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

Brother just told me we are in for Khedira as well!

Personally we would have been better off with Cesc and could have shoe horned someone else as DM?

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

That khedira rumor has been out for a bit, along with bender and morgan schneiderlin. Personally I think Wenger is playing the sides so khedira may reduce his demands, or bender may feel that he will miss the opportunity unless he acts, ..while morgan thinks its an opportunity of a lifetime and jumps at it.. who knows.

I am wondering about cesc, especially now with alexis on board who he also played with and santi possibly heading out. We will see.

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

Santi is leaving? :( Would be sad, I would rather Arteta who has lost so much pace

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

I dont know for sure, there was some chatter about him moving to atletico madrid, back to spain etc.
he did not outright deny it so it may be possible. but hope not
Arteta was linked to fiorentina but has recently said no thats not real.
future of podolski has been a little uncertain also.

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

Podolski is a good super sub but with Giroud, Sanchez,Theo not sure if he would want to stay but I would keep knowing our injuries....

Also we signed a fitness coach I think, about time. I forgot Diaby, bechara. I think he is fit now, though no idea how long it will last.

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

toni kroos is off to real madrid by the looks of things
di maria rejects utd
reus linked to liverpool (praying this happens)

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

I'd be surprised if Reus to Liverpool happened but it would be a massive signing for them. Though I think you guys need a top class striker to replace Suarez instead.

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

i heard balotelli was on scouse radar now.

as far as injury issues, looks like arisen finally got a new guy in to deal with it.
but we need depth in squad this year, competing at PL, CL, cups is tough if you dont have depth, injury, exhaustion, etc... either you perform sub par at all events or crash out early in cups.

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

Balotelli was linked with us too, glad we aren't getting him. He is too prone to tantrums.

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

we really dont need another striker who blows up at the flick of a switch. Although he's somewhat matured ever since joining inter. Someone like lukaku - we need a good quality striker, lukaku should be playing champions league football. Its a win win situation. I mean no one else is after him as far as i know

BR's spending spree is reminiscent of AVB and spurs last year. Eriksen was the only one who performed well last season for spurs. And BR is making the same mistake as dalglish, paying too much for english players like lambert, and yes ill say it, we paid too much for lallana

Glad to see wenger pulling out the stops this transfer window. Sanchez will compliment/ rotate with walcott nicely

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

Some names are familiar. Some I thought had retired.

Whenever I have seen Balotelli, he has always played hard.

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

i guess he is not leaving now, which is good news

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

can you imagine suarez and balotelli facing off? maybe he should go to real :D

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

The interesting thing is that Wenger had said that building a team that quickly with so many new faces will be challenging, all the spuds fans and assorted anti wenger ppl laughed at him for it, but he was proven right, its not just about individual skills shown in other teams, but how those skills will be supported with a new setup, and in a new league that is a huge deal.

All i know is that this season will be excellent. My vote for spoiler is United which does not have to deal with CL so will have less issue with exhaustion and injury than the others

Lukaku can be an option but he did not do himself much favor by yipping about ozil.
whatever happened to Michu? he was playing so well and there were rumors of arsine's interest.
same with loic remy.
julio cesar and iker casillas were tipped as contenders as well, i think that may have cooled down at least for casillas after the world cup

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

Now his agent is saying madrid are haggling on the price.

With Kroos in and Rodriguez to follow surely Madrid will sell him, to us hopefully...

Re: silly season- key transfers in major leagues

That’s WWE right there :hehe:
