Silly Question

I have what may be an obvious answer to this question..when you go to the doctor to discuss going on a birth control pill. does the doctor do an examination. I ask this because my doctor is male and i’m not keen on being examined.

Immediate answers please.

Re: Silly Question

no, unless you are sexually active.

Re: Silly Question

thanks, that's good to know. i should really change and get myself a female doctor, at least it would stop me from having mini panic attacks.

why only if your sexually active? does he describe a special kind of pill for sexually active people or is it to check if they are pregnant?

Re: Silly Question

no they take a pap smear usually if you are sexually active. nothing special for active people :p there might be a chance that once you're on the pill, the doc might give you a brief physical examination later on, but usually family docs don't do it. it's gynies that do it.

Re: Silly Question

yay..thankyou.

i'm going to stand near the door and shout 'give me the pill, the type that doesn't make you fat..give it to meee' my doctor is also scary.

lol

Re: Silly Question

lol no problem. the weight gain with the pill is really minimal, about 5-10 pounds, which can be easily managed with proper diet.

Re: Silly Question

5-10 pounds is way noticeable on some people ie. me. I'll just exercise ALOT LOT more :(

nite-nite

thanks again for your help.

Re: Silly Question

Some doctors may suggest that you get a pap smear done but if you refuse then they will just make you sign a paper saying that they explained everything. My doctor just did a blood test because I wasn't sexually active at that time.

OMG

hmmmmmmmmmmm can it be used for just weight gain? :bummer:

LOL why not find a good doctor that you trust and are comfortable with!

Re: Silly Question

i would do however i don't visit the Doctor often and its only when i go to book an appointment that i remember he's scary plus lol i'm lazy.

He only checked my blood pressure and asked me some questions and then prescribed me some. Its was actually interesting and not at all as daunting as everyone makes it out to be.
