Silly mistakes while cooking

So im cooking away my potato and vegetable curry.

So im nearly finished i take a big spoonful and put it on the side to cool alittle while i clear up, i decide to add some onion gravey granules. so i sprinkle them ontop.

Then i wonder if theres salt in the granules so i read the ingredients and the first thing that i read is BEEF STOCK. DAMN im a vegetarian ive just ruined all my work i cant eat this now. I just spend 30 minutes on it and had to throw it in the bin. I had only one spoonful. :frowning:

Luckily i had half of all the ingerdients left so i made a quick version in 15 minutes. (microwaved the potatos and vegies)

Did you make any silly mistakes while cooking and had to start again?

Someone put the salt near the sugar when i was making tea and i got salty shock when i dunked a buscuit in. :frowning:

Re: Silly mistakes while cooking

Which granules did you use, Bisto?

I always make silly mistakes… like i forget if i added salt to a curry.. instead of tasting it to check, i just throw more in… :bummer:

I always forget that i'm cooking and my food gets burnt. :(

Re: Silly mistakes while cooking

The first time I cooked after getting married, made some kheer.. It is my specialty, NEVER goes wrong..but that day I was so tense that in the end I added FIVE teaspoonsfull of Kewra water to the kheer ..It was like I wasn’t even thinking and just kept on adding it until I suddenly realized what I was doing in horror..needless to say it reeked of kewra and was hardly edible :hehe:

Re: Silly mistakes while cooking

Re: Silly mistakes while cooking

I once added milk instead of orange juice to fruit chaat in ramzaan once.Absolutely gross

Any chance of the recipe please…would love to know how to make kheer

It happened once & I ended up throwing away 3 dishes in one day.

First it was Chili Chicken. Didn’t turn out right because I used a different brand chilli paste.

Then I tried to make Indonesian Rice & made the most stupidest mistake & added a bit of that chili chicken’s chicken pieces so I don’t waste anything. It tasted really bad.

Then I made some plain white rice & cooked up some masoor daal. The rice tasted horrible. I got so frustrated. Ending up throwing everything included the chutneys I made for chili chicken :bummer:

Yep once I made koftas but they were not solid and they ended up looking like keema :bummer:

Re: Silly mistakes while cooking

^ hehe
thats teh cutest one so far!

Re: Silly mistakes while cooking

Oil is boiling inside the pan and you are about to dip your chicken piece to fry it. You dont want to splash any hot oil on you so you want to use a big metal spoon to lower the meat into the oil. You realize that the spoon is dirty so you first rinse it with water. Now spoon is wet. You lower the wet spoon in the hot hot oil … next thing you know, you are cursing your stupidity and asking your wife to put toothapaste on your face to get rid of all those oil burns :nahi:

Re: Silly mistakes while cooking

^ :omg:

Re: Silly mistakes while cooking

^ Lol. Can't stop laughing.

The best thing is to not drop the piece for frying but gently lower it in the hot oil. That way oil never splashes. But wet spoon & hot oil. Lol. This one is a classic.
