Silicone based primers...

I prefer them because of how they feel on the skin and how foundation just glides on…literally.

And I also go through them like water :frowning:

Smashbox’s big tube is about $48 but I am not spending that much even though its a really good primer.

What are your favorite ones?

Has anyone ever tried making primer themselves?

I make my own mixing medium now to use with the UD shadows and it works really well.

Re: Silicone based primers…

i have always heard good things about primers one of my friend is using Loreal’s primer and she is completely satisfied however its a small pot is about 98 or 99 Dh… i just use loreal hydrating creme or lancom hydrating gel before putting the foundation and it really makes my skin smooth
and how can one make primers at home :hmmm: i am interested to know as well !!

Re: Silicone based primers...

I go through so much of it I don't know what else to do.

I think its just a few ingredients you would mix at different ratios to get that gel like consistency. I am sure it can be made at home.

Re: Silicone based primers...

anyone of you experience break outs with silicone based primers. I've been wanting to try the photofinish primer by smashbox but scared it might irritate my skin..

Re: Silicone based primers...

Since you're in the US, try Monistat Anti-Chafing gel. Everrrrrrrrrryyyone is raving about it. EVERYONE. I even know of a blogger who uses that as an eyeshadow primer.

If you're a bit queasy about using that, then you can try the L'oreal one. My friend's used it and she loves it.

Re: Silicone based primers...

Yep. I did. I wore it 1x (got a sample from Sephora) and next day broke out. Its best if you get a sample first to see if your skin will tolerate it.

Re: Silicone based primers…

This is the one I use currently and I love it! For daytime wear, MAC Prep&Prime SPF 50 is also a good one (at least for me).

Re: Silicone based primers...

^I have posted that so many times. No one listens! It's great.

Re: Silicone based primers...

I was about to suggest the same! Also, Avon has one too which is fantastic and less than $7.

Re: Silicone based primers...

I think I am a bit queasy about using the Monistat :(

Re: Silicone based primers...

^LOL. Makeupgeek loves that as a primer, I know a lot of people use it too.

Re: Silicone based primers...

You could always squeeze it out in an another container and pretend it isn't monistat :@:

Re: Silicone based primers...

Yup, put some in an empty bottle with a pump and use it like any other primer. :D

Re: Silicone based primers...

I'll try it that way but something about the fact that its meant for something else entirely...:(

Well, I went on a trying-spree (posted in the other thread about it). I found Rimmel's Fix and Perfect is what I was looking for.

I am also still going to try and make my own. That way, I can control the consistency of it and see how I like it. I'll report back here when I do!

Re: Silicone based primers...

@Reha please post ur feedback regarding rimmel's fix and perfect

Re: Silicone based primers...

AB

Rimmel's Fix and Perfect Primer is similar to the Clinique one. Its about $7.59 at Ulta.

I like silicone primers and its definitely got it in there. I like the consistency of it. It looks orange-y in the tube but when applied it goes on colorless. No strong fragrance. It feels creamy but dries to that matte finish we like to see.

I tried it on and then put concealer over it to see how that set. It worked really well and after twenty minutes of wearing it...the concealer had set but hadn't gotten into fine lines.

I liked it more than the $25 Spackle. Its also gotten some good reviews by other MUA's.

Re: Silicone based primers…

hey thanks buddy :lifey: will check this out soon .. so can it be used under eye area as well?

Re: Silicone based primers…

In case you’re confusing it with the stuff for yeast infection: exchange.ph

Ok would it make you feel better if I told you marathon runners and bicyclists also use that to prevent chafing?

If that still doesn’t convert you, you can also try anything with silicone in it. I recently bought Vitamin C skin boost from Body Shop. It feels exactly like a primer and really smooths out my skin.

Re: Silicone based primers...

i dont know if its silicone based but i love laura merciers primer - my make up does not move and although i have sensitive skin it doesn't break me out either

saying that i use it occasionally and not everyday

Re: Silicone based primers...

I use Lancome one, and i dont feel any difference with my pores, is there any technique for applying primer? Do i have to apply a lot of it to hide my pores and fine lines around eye area?
