I was flicking through channels last night and on one of the channel I notice some desi people and by paying more attention the movie being played was in Punjabi. And after paying full attention the characters in the movie seemed to be familiar, most of them I have seen them in Pakistani Dramas such as Abid Ali and I’d say 90% of the cast was Pakistani.
I was VERY MUCH surprised the way the movie was made. I mean normally when you watch a Punjabi movie you would expect the hero throwing 10 people at a time on to the electric wires that run over the head about hundred feet’s high and very unprofessional. But I was so amazed watching this movie that every single scene was shot with perfection. I mean looking at Pakistani movies how they make movies compared to this movie was made in Hollywood or at least I’d say shot by Hollywood crew.
The dressing, the sets, the acting, delivering of the dialogues everything was perfect. The movie was made in 2003 but I still don’t know if it was made by a Pakistani director or someone from another country. The story line was good too, I’d say it was excellent. There were no songs at all so it could be an art movie but still I was amazed on the quality.
The movie was shot some where in Pakistan in a village [don’t know the name] but the village had a Sikh temple so every year the Sikhs from India would come to this village and perform their prayers or what ever.
I won’t tell the story here in case if you guys have not yet watched it to keep the suspense and I would recommend you to watch the movie especially if you are a Punjabi or if you could understand Punjabi.
Also just remember a controversial scene in the movie about kissing. There is this young boy and girl and the kissing take place for only 5 seconds but they showed it instead of censoring it. I mean controversial in a sense that in Pakistan kissing is not that open specially in public and in movies or dramas but how come it was shown in this movie. That lead me to believe it must have been made by some one outside Pakistan.
Anyway just wanted to share.
