'Silence of the lambs'

I have been wondering for a few weeks now as to why Maulana Fazlur Rahman has unusually sidelined himself at the time of a huge crisis? He does faces the media but actually seems to be keeping a very low profile and avoid giving sweeping statements. Even his party spokesmen rarely appear in talk shows. A few unimportant words here and some useless statements there are all we can see from the Maulana these days. His extent of seriousness could be gauged from the fact that he is quiet even on Imran. Now that should be something!

Maulana is a master craftsman. He is an undisputed authority on realpolitik. It is understood that the path he takes always connect to a destination and he never takes a route that leads nowhere. He was badly belittled by Taliban when they ignored him for their peace panel. Nawaz Sharif also preferred Samiul Haq over the Maulana which might have decided him to take a backseat and salvage some pride. The double whammy must be shocking for the Maulana, if not embracing. But the astute man who knows how to trudge through muddy waters, should be having something up his sleeves.

What Maulana is cooking these days? Any ideas? :hmmm:
