I have to agree. Time to ease border restrictions & hopefully that would lead to free trade across the border between the 2 countries.
Sikhs want Indo-Pak border restrictions removed
Sunday, November 21, 2010 LAHORE: Indian Sikh pilgrims say border restrictions between Pakistan and India should be abolished for peace and prosperity in the region.
Talking to media persons at Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore on Saturday, the Sikh pilgrims said external elements were involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan. The Sikh pilgrims, who are visiting Pakistan to celebrate 542nd birth ceremonies of Baba Guru Nanak, said the people of Pakistan were peaceful and foreign factors were involved in all terrorist activities. They said improvement in the Pak-India relations was necessary for peace in the region.
Sikh pilgrims will stay in Pakistan for 10 days and during their stay, they will attend ceremonies in connection with Baba Guru Nanak’s birth celebrations at various religious sites, including Sacha Sodda, Hassan Abdal, Punja Sahib and Ranjit Singh Marri. They will return to India on November 29. Meanwhile, various public sections said exchange of visits between citizens of India and Pakistan would not only improve relations but also strengthen the trade relations.
Ease the border restrictions and let every Kashmir Singh and Sarabjit Singh in to carry out blasts. Until the relations are better there is no point easing the border restrcitions.

Exactly. There is no sense in crossing half the well - it is very dangerous.
Now when I said that, Raindance called me a RAW agent. Guess that makes you one too
IMO, there is simply too much trust deficit b/w India and Pakistan to ease travel restrictions. Hopefully, once the regional atmosphere gets better, we can proceed to some form of visa relaxation. On a side note; I would recommend to my fellow Indian guppies to petition their local leaders to allow free broadcast of Pakistani cable tv's in India. I believe that would be a great help in improving relations b/w the two countries.

I agree with that. We cannot just have a blind trust on each other at this time but maybe we can start with adding couple of more days in Samjhota Express routine.
Well, why don't Bharatis first accept more realistic Pakistani proposal of demilitarizing and opening borders between the Azad and Occupied Kashmir?
That will also solve the Kashmir dispute.
Sikhs would love to see the restrictions removed. And they would be happy to know that some here in Pakistan would rather live with their Sikh brethren than with other "immigrants". I don't need to name names.
