Sikhs Arrested in India for Speaking for Khalistan - Where Is Freedom of Speech in “World’s Largest Democracy”?
WASHINGTON, D.C., March 15, 2006 – Sardar Kanwarpal Singh Dhami, Chairman of Dal Khalsa, and Dr. Jagjit Singh Chohan were arrested earlier this month for speaking out for an independent Khalistan. They were charged with sedition. These arrests follow the arrests of Sikh leaders last year belonging to Dal Khalsa both in January and June for hoisting the flag of Khalistan. Kanwarpal Singh Dhami was arrested after saying that the Sikh Panth could not live under someone else’s rule. He was accused of “…sedition, promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony, imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration and statements conducing to public mischief.” The government charged that he promoted separatist and ‘terrorist’ movements.
Re: Sikhs Arrested in India for Speaking for Khalistan
Sedition and secession are two different things. Sedition is a crime in most countries, just like India, because it incites violence. Speech about secession, or seperation, is not outlawed. Sedition is a crime in the US as well and most of Europe.
Re: Sikhs Arrested in India for Speaking for Khalistan
When is India going to arrest him for sedition, if not genocide, instead of going after a couple of peaceful Sikhs?
Ohhh, yes. There is it again. Some of that moral relativism. Bill, you'll have to speak up....I can't hear you over the bombings in Balochistan.
So here we are, we go from Sikhs to Gujrat. I'll tell you what. When I hear the same vitriol for the part of the ummah in Sudan, I'll take Modi out myself.
Re: Sikhs Arrested in India for Speaking for Khalistan
The failure to arrest a Hindu fanatic like Modi proves what a fallacy this Indian secularlism and democracy is. They arrest a couple of peaceful Sikhs for speaking their mind, yet cannot even touch mass murdering Hindu like Modi.
Re: Sikhs Arrested in India for Speaking for Khalistan
Alright Bill, just so we have it clear. Because India, which has by the way FIR filed against Modi, is slow to prosecute..or for that matter it fails...is a reason for Muslims to kill Muslims . Perfect!
Hindus killing Muslims justifies Muslims killing Muslims......
Or maybe you are insinuating that Indians cannot speak because the Gujrat riots....in that case..what is good for the goose is also good for the gander.
I don't fully get your duplictity here...please be a little more muddy Bill...
Re: Sikhs Arrested in India for Speaking for Khalistan
A Hindu leader incites and directs mass murder of a couple of thousand Muslims and only a FIR in all these years.
couple of peace-loving baluhis do the same and u know their fate....... and yes godhara killers are also at loose tha's inefficiency who do u nab in mob action moreover whenever police visiis godhara to arrest those pece-lovers stone pelting from every peace-lovers house starts... anyway in nutshell it's inefficiency of police system no partisian politics
Re: Sikhs Arrested in India for Speaking for Khalistan
always love hearing pakistanis views on how gujarat massacre culprits should be dealt with. perfectly in congruence with the "punishment" handed down to their own butchers of bengalis. NOT.
35 years, and still in denial of the genocide. not a clue in jahannum what democracy is, perfectly cozy under the army boot. but this has never been a deterrance when it comes to giving india crash courses on democracy, free speech, what not. jokers.
