Signs of Imam Mahdi (AS)

Imam Mahdi (Descendent of Prophet Muhammad PBUH)
Who Is Imam Mahdi?

Note: Please do not confuse Imam Mahdi with Hadhrat Isa (Jesus) Alayhis Salaam. They are two different persons, and both will come during the last days. According to Hadeeth, Imam Mahdi will appear first, and Hadhrat Isa (A.S.) will appear during Imam Mahdi’s lifetime. Furthermore, only Hadhrat Isa(A.S.) will be able to kill Dajjal (the “anti-Christ”).

The term “MAHDI” is a title meaning"TheGuided one".

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (R.A.) says that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, “This world will not come to an end until one person from my progeny does not rule over the Arabs, and his name will be the same as my name.” (Tirmidhi)

Hadhrat Ali (R.A.) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, “Even if only a day remains for Qiyamah to come, yet Allah will surely send a man from my family who will fill this world with such justice and fairness, just as it initally was filled with oppression.” (Abu Dawood)

His Features

Hadhrat Abu Saeed Khudri (R.A.) relates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, “Al Mahdi will be from my progeny. His forehead will be broad and his nose will be high. He will fill the world with justice and fairness at a time when the world will be filled with oppression. He will rule for seven years.”

His Emergence and Rule

Hadhrat Umme Salmah (R.A.) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, " After the death of a Ruler there will be some dispute between the people. At that time a citizen of Madina will flee (from Madinah) and go to Makkah. While in Makkah, certain people will approach him between Hajrul Aswad and Maqaame Ibraheem, and forcefully pledge their allegiance to him. Thereafter a huge army will proceed from Syria to attack him but when they will be at Baida, which is between Makkah and Madina, they will be swallowed into the ground. On seeing this, the Abdaals of Shaam as well as large numbers of people from Iraq will come to him and pledge their allegiance to him. Then a person from the Quraish, whose uncle will be from the Bani Kalb tribe will send an army to attack him, only to be overpowered, by the will of Allah. This (defeated) army will be that of the Bani Kalb. Unfortunate indeed is he who does not receive a share from the booty of the Kalb. This person (Imam Mahdi) will distribute the spoils of war after the battle. He will lead the people according to the Sunnat and during his reign Islam will spread throughout the world. He will remain till seven years (since his emergence). He will pass away and the Muslims will perform his Janazah salaat." (Abu Dawood)

According to a Hadeeth, Sayyidena Eesa (A.S.) will lead the Janaazah of Imam Mahdi (A.S.).
While the people will be pledging their allegiance to Imaam Mahdi, a voice from the unseen will call out:
“This is the representative of Allah, The Mahdi, listen to him and obey him”
This announcement which will be heard by all those present will establish his authenticity.

Hadhrat Abu Umamah (R.A.) says that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “There will be four peace agreements between you and the Romans. The fourth agreement will be mediated through a person who will be from the progeny of Hadhrat Haroon (A.S.) and will be upheld for seven years.” The people asked: “O Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), who will be the Imaam of the people at the time?”
Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “He will be from my progeny and will be forty years of age. His face will shine like a star and he will have a black spot on his left cheek. He will don two “Qutwaani” cloaks and will appear exactly as a person from the Bani Israeel…” (Tabrani)

According to hadith narrated by Abu Saeed Khudri (R.A.) Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “…(regarding the rule of Imaam Mahdi) the skies will rain down in abundance and the earth will yield forth its crop in abundance, and those alive will desire that those who have already passed away should have been alive to enjoy this prosperity…”

  1. The Prophet (PBUH and HF) said: “Even if the entire duration of the world’s existence has already been exhausted and only one day is left (before the day of judgment), Allah will expand that day to such a length of time, as to accommodate the kingdom of a person from my Ahlul-Bayt who will be called by my name. He will fill out the earth with peace and justice as it will have been full of injustice and tyranny (by then).”

Abrar ! your informative post need some answers but for now I am replying in response to your statement re-quoted below. Though this column has been posted earlier by iqadeer some time ago, seems to be from the same web site. Thus I conclude that your brains are controlled by these web sites and you dont bother to use it by yourself (except achtung).

As a result of certain contradictions and confusions, the Muslim masses had and still continue to hold an erroneous belief in the simultaneous appearance of two separate persons, the Imam'Mahdi and the Promised Messiah(Kasim). It was and is still believed that the Imam Mahdi will appear some time before the Promised Messiah (Ibid)and after leading the Muslims in prayers, he will pursue the Dajaal in the company of the Promised Messiah, Jesus son of Mary.(Maududi)

Hazrat Mirza Ghufam Ahmad on the other hand held the view that the Imam Mahdi prophesied by the Holy Prophet's Traditions was to be no other than the Promised Messiah. He based his view; on the authority of such Traditions as stated:

** • “la mehdi illa isa – there is no Mehdi except Isa**, [Sunah Ibn Maja. 35.24]

In another report, recorded by the collection of Ahmad bin Hanbal, our beloved Prophet is believed to have stated:

** • “whosoever lives from among you shall meet Jesus, son of Mary who is Imam, Mehdi, arbiter and judge.** [Masnad Ahmad: vol 2 p 411]

These Traditions reported by some of the most respected collections of Ahadith suggest that the Holy Prophet's prophesies in relation to the advent of the Imam Mahdi and the Promised Messiah were expected to be fulfilled in the advent of only one person who was to be the Imam Mahdi as well as the Promised Messiah.

This opinion is further substantiated by such Traditions of the Holy Prophet as indicate that the Promised Messiah would be the Imam of the Ummah. It is for instance reported that the Holy Prophet declared:

** • “what will your condition when the son of Mary will descend among you and he will be your Imam from among you** [Sahih Bukhari: kitab ul Anbiya 60.49]

The critics of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad are universally agreed that the Imam Mahdi prophesied by the Traditions of our beloved Prophet, peace be upon him, would be the Imam of the Muslims at the time of his advent(Hasan).

However, if this Mahdi and the Promised Messiah prophesied by the Holy Prophet of Islam are expected to appear simultaneously(Kasim) and the Imam Mahdi is to assume the role of Imam (Ibid)", then in view of Sahih Bukhari's Hadith as quoted above(Bukhari) and the Holy Prophet's Tradition quoted earlier(Masnad), we would be obliged to admit that the Imam Mehdi would be no other than the Promised Messiah since according to these Traditions, the Messiah son of Mary has been declared the Imam of the Muslims. And hence he would have no option but to assume the role of the Imam - a role expected to be fulfilled by the Mahdi also.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad's discussions on the Traditions bearing upon the advent of the Mahdi, when studied without any preconceived notions and with honesty and integrity indicate that he merely proposed to reconcile the apparent contradictions in the varied Traditions relating to the advent of the Imam Mahdi and the Promised Messiah and hence through this reconciliation, make the Muslims aware that they should not expect two separate persons to arrive simultaneously since such a belief could sound dire consequences to the unity of the Ummah.

salams n stuff,

w-salams n stuff,
Jai Peeri

Guys don't waist UR time, I have posted it for Belivers!, not for.........

will the self-appointed believers also ponder over this:

"lal mahdi illa eesa"
( there is no mehdi, except jesus )
as narrated in
1) Muslim, volume 2, page 515
2) Ibne maja, baab shuddahuzamaan, page 257
3) kanz ul amaal, volume 7, page 156

aik kitaab jhooti ho sakti hai, teen nahee!

Abrar,
We have had this discussion very recently and I thought we had agreed that "Ahl ul Bayt" will be the SOLE inheritor of Messiah or Immamate; then, all of a sudden, Zalim questioned - where in the Quran does it say that Imam/Mahdi has to be from the family of Ahl ul Bayt? The status of the "Ahl ul Bayt" is covered at great lengths in the Quran.

Over the last century there have been three claims to Messiah/Mahdi that I am aware of:
1) The Messiah of the Ahmedis;
2) The Mahdi of Sudan;
3) The Messiah of the Bahais in Iran;

1 claims to be the Messiah based on (i) Persian ancestry and (ii) verses foretelling his coming.

2 claims based on (i)scars on face and facial attributes and (ii) eastern ancestry.

3 claims based on (sorry not available).

In future, there will be more claims; but without the unique attributes of "Ahl ul Bayt" they are doomed to be failures.

Salam Abdul Malik
WHAT??? DID I SAID SO??? could you please point that out where I said that?

The only thing I have said is in reference to the verses 3&4, Chapter 63, Al-Jumuah

let me repaste that reply again.

[62:3&4]

The later verse in support of the former one, signifies that the Divine Message of the Holy Prophet was meant not only for the Arabs among whom he was raised but for all non-Arabs as well, and not only for his contemporaries but also for the coming generations till the end of time. Or the meaning may be that the Holy Prophet will be raised among another people who have not yet joined his immediate followers.

The reference in the verse and in a well-known saying of the Holy Prophet is to the Second Advent of the Holy Prophet in the person of the Promised Messiah and Mehdi in the Latter Days.

Says Aba Hurairah: **“One Day we were sitting with the Holy Prophet when Siira Jumu’ah was revealed. I asked the Holy Prophet, "Who are the people to whom the words And among others from among them who have not yet joined them, refer”. Salmaann - the Persian was also sitting among us at that time. Upon my repeatedly asking him the same question, the Prophet(sa) put his hand on Salmaan and said, 'If Faith were to go up to the Pleiades, a man from these would surely find it”
** [Bukhari, Vol. 2, Kitab ul Tafseer, Commentry on Sura Jumu’ah]
(Please go through the hadith by yourself)

This hadith shows that the verse applies to a man of Persian descent. Now, the Promised Messiah, the Founder of the Abmadiyya Movement, was of Persian descent.

Other sayings of the Holy Prophet speak of the appearance of the Messiah at a time when there would remain nothing of the Qur’an but its words and of Islam but its name i.e., the true spirit of Islamic teaching will be lost. [Baihaqui]. So is true as of today.

Thus the Quran and the Hadith both seem to agree that the present verse refers to the Second Advent of the Holy Prophet(sa) in the person of the Promised Messiah and Mehdi and Hadith confirms his decent from the progeny of Salam Farsi, who In another narration by the Holy Prophet(sa) has been praised as; “Saalman is from our ahlay-bait”, (though he of persian decent).

sorry Abdul Malik, i think I was not clear in my message. I will bring up the topic again. i appologise.

Brother Zalim,
Pls don't apologise, it kind of makes me feel bad! I just noticed brother Abrar has been quiet with no follow-ups so I thought maybe my interference had something to do with it.
Regards,

What we're taking as a promissing discussion is just a copied and pasted essay by abrar.

He himself is little aware of what he wrote, and therefore is obviously unable to prove his point.

Brother Salam masnoon
Thanks for advising me. I thought in my post above, I have given references also, but when went back again, I found two or three ahadiths, which don't have references. I will try to post references of those also. All others were taken from Sahahs. Again advise me if there are few ahadiths which are not from any authentic book of hadith

Vassalam

Abrar:

Thanks for posting it... Really is informative... Jaza'k Allah.
I read the same things in different authentic books and is true in the light of Quran and Sunnah.

Sister Dee Dee you are most welcome!

When jesus, the messiah, came to the people of moses, they rejected him because they believed in such things as a king messiah, who would at once turn everyone to the jew faith, and they also belived that prophet elijah has climbed the sky and will physically descend.

When Mirza ghulam ahmed, the messiah, came to the people of Mohammad, They rejected him on similar bases. history repeats itself!

And we all know how history rewards the believers of true prophets. While you wait for a physical descent of jesus.

bohot see nations nay apnay prophets aasmaan pay charha rakhay hain, kay aakhir main dobara utrain gay. charhay to bohot huwe hain, kya aaj tak kisi nay uterta huwa bhee dekha hai?

It does not belong to god, the sacred, who is clean of such things, as bringing about a spiritual revolution by such a circuss, as someone descending from the sky!

Mr Insf...

I have presented Hadiths of my Master Prophet Muhammed SAW. If you don't want to accept saying of prophet Muhammed SAW, don't pass negative comments on it, simply say your opinion without trying to prove above hadiths wrong. I hope you will consider this request in future also.

Regards..
