Re: Signs and symptoms of child abuse
Mamaof3:
I have alot of trouble with this one…while I am horrified at any report of child abuse and agree that schools, teachers and trusted elders should be on the lookout for it, it can really turn into a witch-hunt. There have been a number of horror stories in USA where CPS dropped the ball and a child ended up dead. Horrifying to be sure yeah? But that has a snowball effect on those of us who have children with eating issues. Children who have calcium deficiency and are prone to breaks and bruises. I mean heck, I have no prob letting anyone come into my house and investigate me and my boyz, the eldest one of whom looks kind of skeletal. But the fact of the matter is that I get REALLY scared when he comes down with a stomach virus. Its not like they’d come in and spend a few days with us to see whats up - they’d just take him away from me - along with the younger 2. That makes it something to really think about yeah? I’m SO glad (for this particular reason anyway) that I live in this upscale kinda town. I’m very vocal about my sons eating and weight issues, very vocal about all the docs we go to (actually whether we need to or not!). JUST imagine if you found yourself with a child like this, have lower income and live in a lower income place. This happened very recently with a young mother in Florida named Erin Markes. VERY sad story, one that is still unfolding … and perhaps a subject for another thread.
I see exactly what you’re saying and I hope that Allah blesses you and your family
Ask - That is DISGUSTING! How can people do that?? Do they not feel for kids? And a 3 year old!! Her mother is a ****ing *****…so it was okay to watch this random man kill her own daughter?! She doesn’t deserve kids… I should stop now :breathes in:
