Significance of a Pact

As muslims we hear much about vices that tempt us in western life styles. Today something happened that triggered something else. Hizb ut Tahrir is getting popular in aus and there was a rally about Gaza strip recently. Just led me to think what is the muslim opinion about being honest and keeping their part of a contract. A promise is not to be taken lightly by muslims, while i appreciate that being multicultural citizens we have different loyalties and we need to make our voices heard on international forum. There are great many issues that we neglect

  1. When we take the oath of citizenship we promise to uphold the law of that country.

  2. Practising muslim that sometimes think it is alrite to go for cash in hand to avoid taxes, travelling without the required tickets or reusing them.

3.breaking the law basically by handing out your medicare card or buying medicines for needy people back home on your health care card.

My point is not to bash practising muslims. It just saddens me that while some of my close encounters have been with people who pray 5 times day, have beard, stay away from alcohol donot realize that it is islamically wrong to break the oath. I just think we need to remind ourselves that this isn’t soemthing to be taken lightly. It bothers me because these people take religion seriously, make effort at many fronts yet break these law where ever they can without any remorse. Honesty has to be an important part of your life as muslim, muslims who ran away from mecca after the Hudabiya agreement werent sheltered due to the sanctions of the agreement so why damage your faith at such trivial matters? By no means am i saying that these are the only people breaking their promise but it bothers me when they do without acknowledging it. May Allah guide us all.

Re: Significance of a Pact

Yep its wrong, but somehow many Desi feel the only way to help others is thru back door

there is a saying about that way to hell is paved with good intentions. Many asylum seekers here are provided with medicare and health care facility and when they see a muslim doc they dont event want to lie about getting prescriptions for medications that they are sending overseas or lending a medicare card to someone else who hasnt got that facility. It is very hard to make them understand that while it is very hard to enjoy facilities here knowing people back home havent got the basic necessaties it is essentially illegal to go through that back door.
