Re: Sightseeing in NY
I've lived in nyc for many years and still love going around Times Square it's such a tourist attraction. I think I'm just attracted cuz all the big screens and lights there. So here goes my list of tourist/sightseeing attractions in NYC (don't know about upstate and haven't really seen any in LI)
- Times Square- also has Madame Tussuad's
- Herald Square- a lot of shopping, always busting with tourists
- Union Square
- South Street Seaport- seaport, a lot of restaurants, some shopping near the water very nice specially during the summer and there's usually some show going on in front there where people can just stop and watch specially a lot of contortionist shows for free. They also have the Bodies Exhibition there which I've been wanting to go to
- Empire State Building
- Statue of Liberty
- Metropolitan Museum of Art (MoMA)
- Central Park
- Fifth Avenue- just a stroll on the avenue where most of the designers are located since 5th avenue is so popularized around the world
- Broadway Show
- Rockefeller Center
That's really all I can think of right now.
If you are into history/politics/business:
- United Nations buildings
- The Federal Reserve Bank of NY- they also have tours in the building, just remember you cant take pics inside the building and even outside of it
- Wall Street- Stock Exchange and World Trade Center site
