I know it could be related to Poetry Forum. But as the Topic shows, it has religious stuff. So here it is.
**Ik Din Rasool-e-Pak nay Ashaab say Kaha
Dain Maal rah-e-Haq mein jo hon Tum main maal daar
Irshaad sunn kay, firt-e-tarab say Umer (Rz) Uthay
Is roz un kay paas thhay darham kayi hazaar
Dil main yeh Keh rahay thhay keh Sidique say Zuroor
Bardh kar rakhay ga Aaj qaddam mairra Rahwar
Laye gharz keh Maal-e-Rasool-e-Ameen kay paas
Eisaar ki hay dust-e-naggar ibtadaye kaar
Poochha Huzoor Survar-e-Aalam nay,“Aay Umer!
Aay woh keh Josh-e-Haq say taray Dil ko hai Qarrar
Rakhaa hai kuchh Ayiyaal ki Khatir bhi too nay keya?
Muslim hai apnay Khawaish-o-Aqarib ka Haq guzzaar”
Ki Arz," Nisf maal hai farzand-o-zunn ka Haq
Baqi jo hai woh milat-e-bayza pay nisaar"
Itnay main Woh Rafeeq-e-Naboowat bhi aa geya
Jis say binaye Ishq-o-Mohabbat hai ustawar
Lay aya apnay sath woh mard-e-wafa sarrisht
Har Cheez, jis say chasham-e-jahaan mai ho aetabar
Milk-e-yameen-o-Darham, dinar-o-rakht-o-jins
Isp-e-qamar sum-o-shuttar-o-Qatir-Himaar
Bolay Huzoor," Chahiye fikar-e-Ayaal bhi"
Kehnay laga woh ishq-o-mohabbat ka raaz daar
“Aay tujh say deedah-e-mah-anjum faroogh geer
Aay tayri Zaat ba’ise taqween-e-Rozgaar
Parwaanay ko charaagh hai bulbul ko phool bus
Sidique kay liye hai Khuda ka Rasool bus”
I’ve read it in Baang-e-Dara quite a many times… It is about the event when Hadhrat Abu Bakar:razi: gave everything o fhis belongings in the path of ALLAH:swt: for jihad. And when Rasoolulah:saw: asked if Abu Bakar:razi: ahd anything left for his family, he replied that Allah:swt: and Rasool:saw: was more than enough for his family.
Please correct me if I am wrong… but is the following verse of the poem is applying that the intensions of Umar(Rz) was to show Abu Bakr(Rz) down than spend in the way of Allah SWT (its not showing off is it)… I mean I have heard that one should give charity such that right hand shouldn’t know what did the left hand give…
I don’t want to offend anybody… or insult character of anyone.. I just want to understand the correct interpretation of it… Is Allama Iqbal accusing him or was it the real intensions of Umar (Rz)
Let me be the one to let you direct towards Quran for your query:
Allah:swt: says in Quran in Surah Aal-e-Imran and Ayah number 114:
They believe in Allah and the last day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid the wrong and they strive with one another in hastening to good deeds, and those are among the good.
hope that will make your confusion go away. And hope you know the context of the good deeds NOW.
Quran is a witness over the deeds of Umer-O-Bu Bakar Ridhwaanullah AliyehaY Ajma’een.
Its a beautiful poem explaining the selflessness of two great companions.
Texan_Dude, you exactly wanted to do what you claimed not to do. For God's sake can you guys give it a rest....Yes Hazrat Omar wanted to be number one in giving in the name of Allah, there is nothing wrong with it.

Well you hitted the spot. Thanks for sharing this Ayah. Allama Iqbal meant the same meaning and also Syeddna Omer.
