Re: sick and tired!!! are you???
I find this very funny (not in a funny way either)… several points to note here…
There is a huge difference in a western designer label and a “designer” label from pakistan/india. Western labels are household names and I have seen people walk around with Fake handbags, and as long as it carries a designer logo in big bold letters, they are happy, even if the material, colour is awful! When it comes to pakistani designers, can you honestly say the same prinicpal apply? Is a bride going to say I want my clothes to carry HSY label on it, irrelevant of which back street darzi has stitched it on, and what ever the colour of the outfit, material, kaam is, I dont care as long as it has a HSY label? hmmm probabaly not!!! the “psychology” you refer to doesnt quiet apply in this situation…
Walking around with a fake LV handbag is something I would frown upon because I guess the person is trying to make an impression that they have bought a very expensive handbag, when in reality its a fake!! However if a person likes the shape of the bag, colour, material, handles of the bag etc and like the way it sits on their shoulder/arms and it happens to be inspired by designer piece, is there something really offensive in buying that bag?
Dont forget, western market is sucessful because of their ability to offer replicas/inspired pieces to high street customers at affordable prices. Zara, primark etc are all known for this. Isnt this how the industry operates? You get some “key” designers launching their collections each season and all the buyers/designers flock to their shows to take “inspirations” for their own collections… you see an item on catwalk and not long before you see inspired pieces in stores.
People who can afford designer pieces, buy from versace etc but if they cant afford it and there happens to be a replica in topshop, they’ll buy it from there instead! what is wrong with that? The asian market is following the trend of west, the only difference is, with advancement in technology they can do so from internet i.e. facebook!
if a bride wants to wear a replica of HSY etc, its not to look “cool”, i imagine it would be because they like the design and work on it but no prepared to pay the price, and when such a demand is created, naturally you’ll get suppliers emering to fill that gap in the market…
I am a marketing consultant in my full time job so I know the marketing tactics applied to make brands appear superior and personally I unashamedly never pay the premiums because I cant justify paying double price for a certain label, when there is something simialr for half that price!
so in conclusion… my opinions on buying REPLICAS from asian outfit sellers, is that it is a fair practice.
