Hi ladies, I needs some words of encouragement or advise. I’m 11 weeks and sick all the time. I have to call in atleast 1-3 times a week t work and I’ll be out of all my vacation days by the time I have this baby if the sickness continues. I’ve been having lots of heartburn and nausea, such severe nausea sometimes the prescriptions don’t even help. I’m back at work today and sitting in my car trying not have a break down because I can hardly find the strength to stand let alone function at work. Is this normal? Is it normal to consider leaving work because of this? Did anyone have to give up their jobs because of their pregnancies. And what if I do that and start feeling better later, so confused and so so tired.
How do I get through these months?
Re: Sick All the Time
Hang in there...first trimester's sickness is really hard. The extreme fatigue and nausea alone leave you drained of all energy.
For heartburn, I ate truckloads of sour cream. It helped. I drank water. I stayed away from all things tomato-y. Tomatoes gave me bad heartburn. Stopped coffee.
For the fatigue, I started taking Simply One's prenatals. I think they helped a lot.
The nice thing is...by month 4 you start to feel pretty good again.
So sorry you're having a rough time :(

hugs
I didn't have such a tough time. Yes, the nausea was there but it was not debilitating.
May Allah give you himmat and make this process easy for you, ameen!
I would suggest the normal remedies but if you are already on prescription meds then I'm sure you've already tried all the other stuff.....
Re: Sick All the Time
Thanks guys. I'm trying to stay strong but it's so hard. I am taking a break for a few minutes because my heartburn and urge to throw up got so bad upstairs. I just feel like doing nothing but throwing up and crying in the comfort of my home right now. 😖
Re: Sick All the Time
Stay strong girl! When I was pregnant last year I had the worst sickness ever. I had to get doctors notes and was off work for two whole months. Everything I ate came right out. It was so bad that if I had a cold drink, it would come up so quick it was still cold! I tried 3 different types of medications and then had to be hospitalised overnight where I had 3 drips attached one after another because I was so dehydrated. Eventually it did start getting better and I found my vices (rubicon mango juice and pears) but then I had my miscarriage unfortunately. Just stay strong, try getting doctors notes. Sip fluids and find what will stay down and stock up on that! Avoid spicy foods and rice as I found that burnt and hurt my throat more than anything. Good luck!

Thanks cupcake. I'm so sorry to hear that. How far along were you if you don't mind me asking? I hope you are doing better now. ❤️
I considered taking leave but FMLA doesn't apply in my case because I havnt been with the company a year yet. A few more months to go but will only be eligible for full benefit by the time the baby arrives inshallah.
Re: Sick All the Time
Well, I had a scan when I was 12 weeks and they said that the fetus had stopped growing at 7 weeks. It was strange because i still had really bad morning sickness until 12 weeks, but the nurses said that was because the fetus was still inside me and there were still hormones in my body. I'm ok now alhumdulillah and looking forward to being pregnant and it being a normal pregnancy inshallah :) just try and rest as much as you can. Sip water. Try different things that may work for your body, flavoured water or juices or squash? Try a variety of fruit to see what stays down and nibble on crackers. Gum also worked on me and then so did mints. Be careful of strong smells. My sister in laws perfume which was so sweet would make me gag and my husbands at freshener which was cherry would make me throw up! It was horrible! But eventually it did start getting better. I hope you feel better soon!
