well I agree with Muzna,
He might be having no fun but again he might wanna look at the reasons behind her this attitude she is having with her hubby. Well I agree that he is not happy with her but after all he is her husband her joys, her grief, sorrows partner in every thing. He better think twice before getting on some final decision. And regarding your main question .Yes the man is suffering for sure.
Shikra,
I would say whatever is the reason for hugging, kissing (of course casuals one) in office or coworkers can not be requirement of job. I work in USA for almost 2 years and have nice relationship with my bosses and co workers without even shaking hands :) Also Being nice with your co workers is always good but you are misguiding them by your this attitude and they will question the Muslims who do not shake hands with Them that oh Muslim Guys are allowed to hug and kiss and women are not even allowed to shake hands :) which is of course not true Guys have also their limits of modesty --- don’t they?
Anyways enough lecturing I know it’s always hard to bear with lectures, so Me chup
(cheers)

i know it's not a requirements.........but you think not shaking hands on your interview will get you a job? lets say you DO get that job without shaking hands, when your boss or someone else introduces you to staff, they always shake hands........and in return, if you just hold your hands back, do you think it'll be a nice impression on your first day of job:)? they already hate us, this will only be another excuse to hate us.
Good one.
Naah shikra, I would be introducing my self with a pleasent smile and that will not let my image bad at them :) and i am working here as I have told you with this smile only :)

Have you ever heard of "bhook mer jaana". If you wait too long for your lunch, you lose appetite.

well my personal opinion:
now that i've lived in USA for a pretty long time, i am not reservative anymore. casual hugs and kisses are common. unlike some desi guys, i am not shy to talk to girls, hold hands, joke around, flirt, kiss, and hug etc. SO, when i marry someone and she's really shy, just like the girl you explained in your post, i think it'll be boring for me and it'll be hard for me to handle this situation. MAYBE my expectations won't be as high as they are right now if i were in pakistan, where hugging, kissing, friendship with girls is not very common.
waisay what is your opinion about your friend's situation, what about answering those question yourself first ;)

I got no respect for guys like you. living in UK and Pakistan doesnt have to be much different.
