Both PPP and PMLN are responsible for the woes of the country. The period between 88 and 99 is the worst of the country. A tug of war continued between the federal and provincial governments which resulted in cancelling the projects begun by the opponent. This resulted in exodus of foreign investment from the country.

The loadshedding that we see now is an example of what happened then. IPPs were basically a PMLN project but implemented by PPP. When PMLN came to power and found out that they can use it as a political point scoring, they started taking action against power producers indiscriminately, as a result scaring most of them away. A 6000 MW coal project was also shelved as a consequence…
