DOHA, Qatar – Iraq’s vice president shouted, “Shut up, you monkey!” at a Kuwaiti diplomat Wednesday during an emergency summit of Islamic nations that sought but failed to develop a new position on preventing a possible U.S.-led war against Iraq.
At the end of the day, divisions remained too strong and delegates to the 57-member Organization of the Islamic Conference summit broke up with a final statement welcoming Iraqi cooperation with U.N. weapons inspectors and expressing hope it would continue.
They rejected war against Iraq and urged Islamic countries to abstain from participating in military action against Iraq or any other Islamic nation.
Earlier, Sheik Mohammed Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah, the Kuwaiti minister of state for foreign affairs, interrupted Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri’s speech to the summit with an inaudible remark. Al-Douri responded – his remarks aired live by Arab satellite television stations – with “Shut up you monkey. Curse be upon your mustache (honor), you traitor.”
Jeez. There’s a thing called common courtesy - you don’t speak when someone else is talking.
…] The row began when the Kuwaiti official interrupted a speech by Izzat Ibrahim, the second-in-command of Iraq’s Revolutionary Command Council, with the words “shut up you dog”.
Mr Ibrahim, who had been delivering a speech critical of Kuwait and the US, responded by calling the Kuwaiti representative a “monkey” and a “traitor”.
“Shut up you minion, you [US] agent, you monkey. You are addressing Iraq,” said Izzat Ibrahim, the second-in-command of Iraq’s Revolutionary Command Council.
Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah tried to fight back but his comments could not be heard over the fray, correspondents said.
Another Kuwaiti minister then jumped up and waved a small Kuwaiti flag which had been on the desk. Insults traded at Islamic summit, BBC, 5 March 2003

guess you have not watched any of the "news shows" peopel constantly cut each others sentences and start on their own impressions even while the other person is talking.
common courtesy is kinda dead, no more gentlemen left really.
well let them duke it out, tensions and emotions are high there, its a miracle that there has been a summit set up to begin with.
Someone told me this was also said by Izzat Ibrahim, the deputy chairman of Iraq's ruling Revolutionary Council screaming at the Kuwati delegate:
"Shut up, sit down you small agent [of the U.S.], you monkey!"
Amusing. Kuwait is loving America right now. I was told there are signs on the roadways that say "God Bless America", the reason being that the American forces are pouring millions into the economy.
That's what happens when you have a bunch of monkeys all tied up in one room..truly disgusting and says a lot about the pitiful mentality of the leaders.
especially questions time :) house of commons can be really entertaining to watch then..but did no one see teh fighst that broke out in japenese parliamnt, same with korean, i also believe that indian and pakistani parliaments have seen some dheenga mushti too (dheenga mushti = slang term for physical fight)
