The national sport in Canada is lacrosse. Harldy the most popular sport, but alas the 'national' sport.

I think the national sport has to do more with being iconic than the most popular.

I don't think cricket has a distinct 'pakistani' identity like (field) hockey, althuogh it is still the most popular. (Field) Hockey is a recognized and respected sport in Pakistan, and I think that's all that matters when coining a sport 'National'.

I would love to see a truly sub-continental sport being our national sport, but is Kabaddi really a sport? I mean, isn't it just a variation of present-day wrestling? Pardon my ignorance on the subject.

Pakistan is pretty good at tradional sport like Kabaddi also. They hammered England 5-0 last time they toured the UK. England players were all made up of Indian Punjabi origin.
