This day is a reminder to never forget all the sacrifices that hunders of people made, to form this country. If we remember that every day, and not just today, perhaps it would make people think twice before what they do.
So, pray today. Give thanks to Allah, and pray that Allah blesses all those people that died on this day and the days after this.

Lets celebrate this youm-e-azadi. Lets celebrate like we never did before. Lets have feast like we do on Eid. But this year lets cook for less fortunate.Lets be a helping hand for the kid who sells newspaper/jhandiyan and flags on the traffic signal. Abhee tau Pakistan jawan hua hay. Abhee tau hum nay bohat aggay jana hay, akailay yeh rasta bohat mushkil hoo ga,sab ko saath lay karr chalna hai.

My grandparents came from Peshawer, even joined in the celebrations on 14 Aug 47 and suluted the Pak flag. Soon thereafter the slaughter of Hindus began and they had to run for their lives.
Sad stories abound on both sides of the border - forgive & forget.
