Should you call always ?

Re: Should you call always ?

I call whenever I go to anyone's house- be it close family or not. It is rude to turn up unexpected, as they may not be in or could be busy too.

Re: Should you call always ?

Do what do I say to people who are very close to me or my wife , but most of the time they do not call before coming or even if they call , the call is just to inform us that they are coming right now, within few minutes, but not to seek permission to come down to visit us for having lunch or dinner or evening tea.

Re: Should you call always ?

Always call before making a visit. For routine at least 24 hours before. Even for emergency, one can call ahead. Emergencies do not happen right outside the door you know..;)

Re: Should you call always ?

It is always a good idea to call. If it is a last minute trip and person called you say 5 minutes before they come, they should NOT expect lunch or dinner....just chai & maybe if they are lucky a snack...hehe

I always call my parents/bros before going over too, just to make sure they are home or don't have any plans of their own.

Re: Should you call always ?

always call so people can put their glad rags on and wash their face! ;)

Re: Should you call always ?

No one ever calls my house its like an open house for all my relatives. but then my house has always been like tht so I'm used to it. just a good thing tht my clothes are always ironed

Re: Should you call always ?

hahaha Mirch. Well there is not much you can do if they call you 5 mins advance notice, aside from being rude & saying now is not a good time. Or you can lie and say you have plans or are not even home....but not everyone can do that

Re: Should you call always ?

I am a nice guy and I cannot say like it is . I cannot make someone loose their face. I would rather cancel my plans then turn someone away from my door. But I am looking for some politically correct way to convey the message to them to let them know that they are welcome only if they call in advance.
