no husband and wife shouldn’t hide money from each other. its your money you dont need to official tell him that you have that much money and this is not called hiding it. if at a point he needs more money or your house needs it then you can simple say i have some money from my savings etc etc. the best would be to open a basic bank account (you dont need your husband to have a bank account opened-as far as i know you can simply go into any bank and open a basic, saver etc bank account). this way you will know that your money is safe and that you can access it at anytime.
if you want to keep it with your mom thats fine too but think about what if you urgently need money and your mom in out of town etc. so best would be to open a bank account and put all the money there. you dont need your hubby’s permission to open an account. just go in and open it.
