After his performance against England and Bangladesh recently should Wasim Akram, no doubt one of the finest fast bowler in the history of test cricket announce his retirement.
He probably should. He can perhaps break the highest wicket mark, but will be easily overtaken by Shane Warne in a matter of days.
Akram should take a hint from Imran Khan's diary and quit while ahead.
He is nearly 100 wickets behind Walsh, so there is no likely hood of him becoming the highest wicket taker. He could however become the second highest wicket taker by overtaking Hadlee and Kapil, but Warne will overtake him.
Imran retired on a high, more than just ahead. I'm pretty positive Wasim might have done the same had things gone our way that evening at Lord's in July 1999.
Anyway, although he does have a few games left in him he should seriously set a deadline after which he should hang up his boots, wickets or no wickets.
I don't want to watch someone like him go the way Miandad and Malik did. Both esteemed players of their times; but left with their name in a messed state of affairs. Whether it was their fault or not.

I think he should play till world cup. But not to play each n every series. He should be used as S.A r using Donald.
If u see the moon
U will see a star near it
I think he should play in a couple more test series. I would really like to see him overtake Kapil Dev, which he can do in a few test matches.
As for retiring, I think he should certainly retire soon and before 2003 world cup, unless he comes back in form in which case he should keep playing uptill the time that he is playing well.

Wasim is still our best bowler. The Bangladeshis just weren't good enough to even get the edge of their bats near his deliveries. He will get a stack of wickets against New Zealand if selected to play.
