should u turn off ur computer and laptop at night

or just put it to sleep?

which uses less energy?

thanks

no computers were built as machines with endurance.

unless u wanna think like a pakistani and save money on your electricity bill.:biggthumb

is this true, u save more energy if you keep it on than if u turn it on/off?

No, if its powered on then you are consuming power, if its sleeping then it consumes less power... I leave my kampootar running all the time for last 5 years so far no problems... Just make sure the fan/vents on the PSU and CPU are not clogged and you have a decent UPS.. Your kampootar will keep running for years....

Re: should u turn off ur computer and laptop at night

I leave my desktop on all the time. I turn off my laptop when I am done using it.

Re: should u turn off ur computer and laptop at night

I would say turn it off. We already have energy crisis in this world. Don't think like nerds but like men.

Leaving your computer on makes you a nerd and turning it off at night makes you a man? good going bro

I agree with NaMaan. We should conserve electricity. Why people leave the computer (or TV/lights) on when not being used is beyond me. When we can sit in front of a PC for 2 hours we can spare 2 minutes to turn it on and off.

Re: should u turn off ur computer and laptop at night

Set as follows:

Auto turn screen off in 5 mins
Auto turn disks off in 10 mins
Go standby in 15 mins

(All of above is that many mins of inactivity)

Plus, if you're not going to use it for over 12 hrs, turn it off.

Turning off has several benefits:

1) Saves energy
2) Protects from voltage spikes
3) Preserves spinning disk and other mecanical parts lifetime longer
4) Eliminates susceptability to virus and malware attack

yes you are right

Re: should u turn off ur computer and laptop at night

I never shut down my PC, sometime it runs 24 hours a day and 7 days a week continuously, you've to decide yourself if your work is more important or you can't see your PC running in the nights because of your love to your PC
