I find it offensive that the PCB continues to name a stadium in one of Pakistan’s largest cities after Muamar Gaddfai. A man who’s own diplomats, ministers, and generals are resigning over his cold-blooded massacre of his own people continues to be deemed worthy by our national cricket board of the honour of having his name prominently gracing a major stadium.

What's the hurry?

I believe there are many other THINGS in PCB that a lot of people find offensive, including the chief executive, which must be taken care of on an urgent basis.

Thats why i dont believe in naming thing on alive people. Americans got it right, they name buildings only after death of a person. ex presidents are exceptions. that way you know if their life was worth it to name something.

btw what are the options, zordari stadium, or shaheed benzir bhutto stadium.

I was wondering of the same topic.But obviously Islamabad does not want to upset it's relations with Tripoli.

Lahore is the heart of punjab and a home to the freedom monument of Minar-e-Pakistan...so why not rename it to Iqbal Stadium...

There's already a Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad

Logically speaking the stadium should be renamed after a cricket hero from Lahore and there are several big names

  • Fazal Mahmood
  • Imran Khan
  • Wasim Akram
  • Abdul Qadir

all born in Lahore

An easier solution would be to take the last two alphabets off..bachat hi bachat

i dont mind the name Qaddafi...i want it to stay for the stadium.

I used to like Gaddafi in the 80s and 90s because he resisted bullies like Reagan but not any more. In his youth he was quite good looking and they even had an impressive wax model of him at Madame Tussauds in London. Not sure if it has been removed now

Who is incharge of renaming? provincial govt.? sports ministry? or PCB alone can do it? if so then I fully agree with your names...and we should call it Imran Khan stadium....it would be a great tribute to him...

What? It's the same Gadaffi? I was totally ignorant about the origin of the name.. I thought some old Pakistani cricketer Gadaffi?

If it's going to be after a person.. I vote for Imran Khan..

I'd go for LCG though... and maybe name the stands after good Lahori cricketers.
