Yes - Public has a right to view these pics.
Yes - These will come out anyway, so might as well, release them now.
No - It violates Geneva convention and humiliates the prisoners.
No - It compromises US interests in the region.

Personally, I think if they don't authoritatively release the pics, whats gonna happen is that some people will start circulating fake pics (taken from porno movies or what not) and pass them off as those from Al-Gharib prison. That will create even more confusion and uproar. At which point, the Pentagon will say "ok, here it is...".
Whats this with no-show-but-yes-tell? All these Senators are filling the air waves with graphic descriptions. If these pics are not to be released anyway, then stop the bak-bak too.
Not sure.
In a way agree with the privacy of the imprisoned.....
I think firstly the detainee's depicted in the photographs should be given the decision.
And if acceptable to those depicted..
Leaning toward...
(making public after suspects are tried...
...if only to negate suspects lawyers using excuse that trial prejudiced because lacks impartial judge and jury*? as defense...
(if possible with military trial)
..or that judge and jury* influenced by public opinion
... prevent conspiracy theories
Do think trials should be public.
I don't understand why the female and male soldier depicted in one of the televised photos are smiling.
I don't understand why the suspects would take photos of one another doing what they did?
Were the photos taken secretly?
Were there hidden cameras/or secretly by others in the prison?
The first option refers to the "rights" of the "public".
i wonder how the family members of the men in these pictures (and allegedly the women as well) feel about having their mothers and fathers, or in some cases perhaps, grandfathers and grandmothers' naked pictures splashed around the world for our satisfying consumption. i dunno if the pics should be released...but at the very least, the family members of the victims in these pictures, should be asked what they think, rather than the public's rights being given top priority.
^^ This issue is not about the individuals, it is about the larger picture - no pun intended, you can always blurr out the face or distinguishing features. However the rights of the people/public are paramount.
How can we rest assured that the people responsible are held accountable when we do not even know what it is of which they stand accused?
Who cares if pictures are released or not!
The American forces have been exposed as what we always knew they where a bunch of hooligan crusadaders who like to torture civillians!
No, simply because I don't need to see them. But if it appears the trials are going limp then I'm sure they'll start flying all over the place.
Faisal's got a good point too.
