With his determination and sportsmanship, Rana has won millions of hearts, not only in Pakistan but in Austrailia and India as well. He looks to be a good new ball bowler like Balaji. Also his quick learning ability from his lose bowling or earlier mistakes is remarkable. He always manage to make a devastating come back in much needed situations. The last couple of matches are an example of this phenomenon. I hope his One day place is secured for WI and England tours with this exceptional performance and attitude.
Question is, should he be made a permenant new ball bowler along with Shoiab? Shabbir and Razzaq will share the middle overs. It sounds like a reemergance of Pakistan’s pace attack. Ofcourse its no where close to 2Ws era, and never will be. But this could be the end of Pakistan’s fast bowling nightmare that has been around for last two years. Shoaib-Rana-Shabbir-Razzaq with a backup of Sami, Rao and Umer Gul. If the guys keep the extras low and stick to the LnL, we are good for another 5-10 years as most of the guys are in their mid 20s by average.
With Pakistan’s batting improving with every series, this could be a winning combination soon. Inshallah.

I havent read the whole post yet but one thing is for certain. Naveed will be in our one day line up for some time to come even in the presence of Shoaib and Shabbir.

I doubt it,,, If any one in Pak camp has any other ideas about Rana.
Rana has captivated the audiences all over and he's not going any where in a hurry.
But, having said that, don't forget that Pak's team tradition is to pick a team based on conditions and playability.
I recall Aqib Javed who was 1 of the most suc6seful pak bowler against India.
But AttaurRehman was played against the teams like England and SriLanka, W-Indies.
Sikander Bakht is another example. Needless to mention the 'Regulars' names here who were permanently with the team at that time.
Considering Rana's value, Pak camp might not use him sporadically and risk injury when he's needed the most.
Besides Pakistan still has a Fat wallet with pacers and quality bowlers. :D

He can effectively swing the ball both ways and he is pretty impressive off the seam too. Looks like he has figured out that Sehwag doesn't move his feet. Any deviation of the a seam is a difficult prospect for Sehwag.He could be a quality bowler if he bowls with discipline. He should use the new ball as he looks more skillful than Sami.

i think the reason he was so effective in the last match was the pressure put from anjum (for the initial overs atleast). if rana can continues to maintain the line he is bowling at, i’ll open with him any day. And with shabbir bowling from the other end, it will be a treat to watch. Sort of a new era for pakistani cricket, where we rely on line/length rather than speed.

*Rambo has already cemented his place in the one day side in that role. I still think he can be valuable in tests as well because he is an attacking bowler and is a wicket taker. The swing he gets can help him get a place in the test side as well. *
