Should PTV be a little bit more liberal in order to compete with the satellite channels?

what do u want to compete in? news or entertainment?
what do u mean by liberal?
if u want to compete news channels and want to be liberal in news, that will not be allowed by govt. 'kaun banega' or 'kyunki' are most popular serials. i dont see any rule in pakistan that forbids making serials of this type.
as far as entertainment is concerned, if pakistan allows private channels, they will give competition to indian channels. govt.'s antics could be entertaining, but govt, never does a good job with entertainment.
I presume liberal is quoted here as more 'Indian like' ... which to some will appeal but to others it might not.
If such a liberal approach be taken, which I see happening pretty soon, PTV will become just another 'typical south asian' channel.
PTV needs to keep its audience! Not try to attract others and lose the ones it has in process. It has its own culture that gives it a unique outlook.
Change is good, only if its in the positive direction!
no way…
if u mean to say it shud also show those glamorous girls wearing tight jeans and t-shirts that show out the body, i dont think so…
besides PTV is best with the shalwar kameez and the dupatta…
besides it is my last hope to persuade my dad to gat a sat. dish…
and if PTV goes LIBERAL, i will never get FOX in my home…
i will miss all the matches
PTV is gradually improving in the right way. "Keeping its ethics and culture but imbracing modren technology". PTV has improved a bit with quality and sound(ever see any new dramas? They are better and not gloomy anymore)
They changed the news to make it look more professional and they are hosting better "Magazine" shows(Boom Boom Boom bastic, Music files, Sar and style ect ect)
We should encourage them more.

ptv is doing a good job.their dramas are the best around.shown all over the world.what do u mean by liberal?do you want to see the trash dramas that the indian come up with?all those drams have are ugly woman topped up with make up and barely any clothes.i would rather prefer watching a ptv drama any day.
my family and i got recently got the dish for ptv at our home and i have to say i think that pakistan has come a long way. the music combines decency with modernism with youth-oriented themes; it's really neat. i enjoy watching the channel and pakistanis are probably the only ones who can pull off not exhibiting nudity and staying fresh at the same time. it's really cool.
Wait moona, are you telling me that PTV in N. America is finally showing new stuff?
I think "liberal" means more like being open on certain subjects. You still can't breach serious subjects like sex, domestic violence, child abuse, and most of all the problems paki teenagers are facing without being a bit open about things. For example, there's this huge problem in the medical industry in Pakistan where male doctors have trouble from keeping their hands from wandering over female patients and most fem. patients take it cuz they're afriad of reporting incidents...could you imagine a PTV drama script being rejected by PTV cuz it had a "bad" scene...I mean, you could make a drama where you just refer to the sexual incident in "code words" so the kids watching don't understand...but then you don't get the message across with the same intensity...
Nevertheless, there is a new trend where dramas are beginning to touch subjects that PTV would never have allowed to show.
heard u can watch PTV in north america as well, on satellite...same one, or different programming? and has anyone here seen that? is it worth it to get the satellite if u wanna watch that channel?
If you do not hope, you will not find what is beyond your hopes...
