No solution is perfect. The govt can only attend.pt make things better thrum education of population. This may encourage the ladies to take up other professions. And the clients may realize health risks just not worth it.
Since demand will never go away- that is the reality - legalization appears to be only solution. I am all for it bring legalizein India and the west.

How is bribery culture over there. There's still be underage prostitution as the goons would pay off the officials to get them fake documents. A 14 year old with a 21 year old's driver's licence. What do you think, could it backfire in India or Pakistan for that matter?

Coincidentally I am watching Mellissa Harris Perry program on msnbsx- Incarceration nation. There is incentive to lock people up. States spending 127% more on incarceration compared to 1987. And when they get out cant get jobs. 2.3 million people locked up mostly for non violent drug crimes. People of Colorado and poor people get incarcerated disproportionately. Depressing.

See..this is what I was thinking of...more of the underage...there is more demand for the underage than any other...and it is mostly in Asia...not just India, Pakistan..even in Sri Lanka...I just heard the news from my mom that so many teenage girls have been taken (ofcoz doesn't help that the president's family is involved in pimping), and other Asian countries as well...and it is not just girls...its also boys!

Saeed - legalizing I. India wont ADD to problems. The underage girls case u bring up may happen. But those girls are in the business anyway. One should start somewhere.

States is pretty much flushing everything down the toilet. They had it great, once. But the tax breaks and not wanting to contribute to the society is just ruining them. I see another Rome falling.

Legalization is not equivalent to endorsement. It signifies recognition of an existing issue/ situation and trying to mitigate the negative consequences.

Liberalising laws will help in the long run however to truly understand the issue one must attack the root. Girls don't just walk into prostitution well not in the drones at the least.

Legalizing means promoting it. When u raise your voice for the rights of something, it means you raise ur voice in favor of something. I dont think it should be favoured by any means.

This is the EXACT argument given by right wing folks wrt to equal rights for all irrespective of race religion gender and sexual orientation. Legalizing just means decriminalizing a non violent activity between consulting adults.

Read the article. Yes legalization would increase illegal immigration. However if most of the world legalized it as opposed to just few in Europe and Australia then this wont be a huge issue.
As for legalization increasing illegal activity in Australia it is not logical. The folks who now want illegal activities in Australia such as underage girls and “unique” acts would want it irrespective of if prostitution legal or illegal.
As for pimps now are official businessmen you can turn statement on its head and say - pimps now are regulated. They cant simply slap the girls around.
Bottom line - no perfect solution. But logical path forward is obvious.
