they used to make good movies ... not anymore!!! its so much westernized now!! you cant sit with your family and watch it!! Indians need to stick to their culture and values!!
I agree that hindi films are trying too hard in hollywoodinzing itself. I am a big critic and dont watch that many myself.
but my point is given the sheer volume of movies mumbai churns out i am sure they make enough good movies of everyone's liking.
lately i have started liking telugu films better :D

irony is few members are blaming hindi films for propagating indian culture and values.
actual india is lot different and diverse than what they show in movies btw.
I think you have misunderstood me … I didn’t mean to say the traditional Indian culture is coming to Pakistan rather it is the modern Indian culture that is coming to Pakistan which I believe is dangerous for India and Pakistan alike.
The idea of love between unmarried couples is increasing - although it truly is coming from the west, it was only after India adopted this practice that Pakistan followed more ardently.
Music - Although I appreciate the beauty of sound I also hold that it is a mighty force that can skew emotion and make people lazy and lethargic - just like a drug. Television is on most of the time during the day in Pakistan being flooded with both Pakistani and Indian music - western music is still very much a fringe interest, but even that is increasing now in both countries. Traditionally music is not seen as harmful in Hinduism as it is in Islam …
Speaking in English is not problematic so that is a mute point I was only talking about certain harmful factors of Indian culture compared to the harmful factors of western culture. I was comparing the impact of internet versus television and by far for the time being TV will continue to impact both societies more than internet until may be for another 5 years or so.
About porn I’m not too sure, but I believe with the reduced idea of sharam in Indian culture that has come from the west I agree is acting as a springboard for Pakistan … The west infiltrates Pakistan by using India as a trojan. Again this is not a stab against Indians … It is an observation on how the systems are interacting. Perhaps Indian porn is also searched for on the internet by Pakistanis I don’t know!
As for the gym and other sports - to me these are all good aspects of culture and I have no problem in Pakistan or India gaining these things in their culture.
The bollywood ethos and Indian dramas are based on sensationalism, over romanticising and are a framework for time wasting and being the academy of how to take advantage in a social or familial setting. These are the most harmful aspects of such programmes for Indians and Pakistanis alike. The over-emphasis on relationships has made people paranoid about those who they should be loving the most and caring for the most.
Both countries share a language which is the Hindu/Urdu language - this made up language is used in films to target the majority of people in the subcontinent and is used by both Pakistan and India in their media. There is no regard to preserve values - there is a stark difference in films from the 1980s to the ones being shown today.
My comment on Indian film culutre being more serious is because it is less detectable as a problem … and as a result more easily adopted. We only have to look to society and see which value structure is being followed … this does not include clothing directly, because although you are right that western clothes are being worn it is a result of western clothes in Indian films rather than western clothes on the internet that is having the major factor and influence.
^^ Tou phir baba western culture go murd-e -ilzam tahrao na. indian culture ko kyo gaali dete ho.
Indian films ki ham bhi tanqeed karte hai, lekin farak ye hai ki hamari ownership hai aur aap ki nahi. hum us ko apne na ahali samajhte hai aur aap log us ko hamari sazish.
BTW pani upar se niche bahta hai. agar log kisi cheez ko accha samajhte hai tou aap lakh koshish kar le us ko rok nahi sakte. banning is the worst idea. us ko counter kare apne culture ko farokth de ke, agar kisi cheez ko ban karenge tou us ki market value apne aap hi badh jaye gi.
like i said earlier, among tons of trash bollywood churns out there are good enough number of movies which are actually good for society. you have your own censor board, pick , chose and censor the movies you like and reject others. sirf ban karenge tou aap ke hath se control nikal jayega aur log fir bhi DVD pe dekhenge.
cheez ko regulate kare, ban nahi.
