Sadiyah, There are more sensible reasons to be not part of such a festival than believing that it is a worship of stupid hindu origin ( excuse the language).

As you seems to have deep interest in origin of festivals in Lahore, kindly enlighten me about the origin of very important festivals in :Lahore known as Mela Charaghaan and ***Mela Mawaishiyaan. *I can give you hints if your have no clue about them
Your telling me the origin of basant is same as if you see a Pakistani Chirstian friend preparing Christmas tree and you say " Oh, you are decorating your house to celebrate birthday of Qaid-e-Azam !! Great ! how patriotic … "

Interestingly enough, I tried looking up the origins and history of Basant and was able to find information that clearly suggests that it started off a religious practice. Islam strictly prohibits us from celebrating any such events and festivals.
Really? Could you please enlighten us as to why is it that darts and snooker should be prohibited? Is there any religious significance attached to either one?

It's stupid, meaningless and based on a Hindu tradition. And sorry, "fun" is not a good enough excuse to justify the loss of life it causes every year.
spring season is nothing to do with religen. if allah says i send you rain it rains in india/pakistan it dose not stop after pakistann border ends. you all think you own god.

Briefly ..
I gave the example of Qaid-e-Azam’s birthday which is celebrated every year on Christmass in Pakistan. It is an officail holiday and most govt buildings get decorated …so, an on-looker who does not know the reality may assume that Pakistan officially celebrates Christmas, which is a mistake !
Although Paksitan is celebrating a birthday, but it is not of jesus christ but it is of her founder M A jinnah.
Now, as you are not a native of Lahore, so you can only go to internet to find out what the hell is basant and why crazy lahories celebrate it with so much passion ??
But, sorry. this is not going to help as you people can not understand the importance of kite flying for us. It is a fun activity and a cherished sport. For us it is very serious activity. Having fun is very important for us. To hell with hindu origin, for us it is nothign more than a festival for flying kites and having fun
If having fun is haraam, then Basant is 100% haraam. no doubt
But you cant understand it, you think we are crazy. Maybe you are right !
Just as you and me can not possibly understand the importance of Bull fighgting and what the hell is funny in seeing people getting injured or killed in routine ??? Same way you cant understand the importance of flying kites.
