Should India Tour Pakistan

I have been VERY vocal about how teams should tour Pakistan else its going to be helping terrorists but from last week or two I am sensing a shift in my opinion. After reading the useless and irresponsible articles (like these), I am developing a fear within and I think, I DO NOT WANT INDIA TO TOUR PAKISTAN.

I said irresponsible because we still have a due process to take place i.e security team will go to Pakistan from India and take the security briefing. Indian high commissioner is in touch with PCB to follow up the security arrangements and then they have to make a decision but before that If I read sentences like these (from UN-NAMED sources btw) “if even a “scratch” comes to Sachin, what would happen to the bilateral relations.”, I think …well at the end of the day its just a sport and nothing much. Why invite a Camel to home and worry about small doors?

Whats your take on this?

Re: Should India Tour Pakistan

ofcourse they shud tour,i mean cant PCB provide fool proof security to the indian team?there hasnt been any problem during zimbabwe n bangladesh's tour to pak earlier this year

I want them to tour Pakistan ..
but even if they wont...
i wont blame them

The article is bogus.

Note that their “sources” are not even reliable to the point that when they re-used the sources in the same article, they had to refer to them as “they”. There is not an ounce of credibility in the entire article. Some story this is.

Perhaps somebody from BCCI mildly replied after reading posts from Some1 Bhai (to see Sachin retire).

Very interesting—very very interesting!

Your thoughts have been cascaded to;

  1. Chairman PCB, Lahore.
  2. Asif Iqbal, London.
  3. Wasim Bari, Karachi.
  4. Asad Mustafa, PCB, Lahore

and will be cascaded to Mr. Bhatti at THE NEWS-Sports by tomo.

Let’s see what do they have up their sleeves here…?

Raju Uncle

This tour will have a huge impact on Pakistan cricket. If they tour and it is a success, no other team can refuse to come to Pakistan for security reasons. But on the other hand, even a small incident will cause cancellation of all future tours to Pakistan including WC/Champ. Trophy etc. This will be make or break for Pak cricket.

I hope and pray this tour goes ahead as planned.

same were said for Asia Cup

but still teams refused to visit pakistan

MY TEN CENTS WORTH:

Primarily----- when the would-be tourist themselves are the author
to intricacies involving security threats in Pakistan to make things worst on sports scenario also...what more can one expect?

They are far ahead and smarter then us--as far as INTRICACIES and a psy-war against their arch enemies is concerned.

IMO the tour should not take place! (in India even..)

What are your thoughts for the World Cup? Where should it take place, if not in Pakistan (for security reasons you mentioned)? Should it take place as decided in all four countries?

They will still have excuse, Indians are not "westerners" (caucasian) hence not much threat to them in Pakistan.

Re: Should India Tour Pakistan

**ONLY **if their current team (including all super stars) agree! , if they send "B-Team" then better they dont come!

What ? Did you really say that ? Which duniyaa are you in ? Is there Kashmir in that duniyaa ? Regardless, the friggin terrorists are not even sparing Pakistanis....and you say Indians have no threat.

LETS NOT MIX THE HUGELY IMPORTANT EVENT WITH SUBLIMAL...ODIs and a Twenty20 !

Indeed---it will !!

Re: Should India Tour Pakistan

^ Some1bhai, I think he meant this was the excuse western teams would use to avoid touring Pak even if an Indian tour were to go off smoothly without incident.

EVER wondered WHY Sharjah ODIs were CRUSHED !!! ??? :):):)

yes I see the context now.... that is what he apparently meant....my bad....ghalti se misstake ho gayi

Miandad’s comments may harm India’s tour: Cricket Next

I love the way cricketnext.com is in love with “sources” and “un named sources” and 90% of their news belong to them. Here is there source confirming my thoughts

*“However, the source added that Miandad’s assertion was that the Indians would not tour next year due of security reasons and it was time Pakistan stopped toeing their line on the ICL”
*

as expected street fighter is on the street again :2guns:

In this article, there is a link that goes to this article, and Miandad accusing BCCI was not even reported by CricInfo. There was no news that reported Miandad of accusing BCCI of bullying tactics, or it would have been reported by CricInfo alongwith the can of worms that he opened recently. Pakistan and Bangladesh have suffered equal losses (perhaps Bangladesh loss is more than Pakistan) but I don’t see BCB officials jumping up and down to remove the bans on their ICL players.

As for the original article above in the quote, Miandad comments perhaps did not come at a right time. So much for CricketNext’s unnamed sources.

As a sidenote, look at the “tags” for this news item (BBCI, ICL, Javed Miandad). Someone forgot to proof-read it before publishing.

I think we should all be less fussed about where we play our matches and more concerned with the amount of meaningful cricket we are playing currently because it is the lack of the latter which will ultimately have a more negative impact on our cricket than anything-else. Our future stars cannot improve unless they play against real opposition regularly. Has it crossed anyone's mind that we have not played a single test in 2008!!! which must be some kind of a record. I don't rate the current WI as a team (esp. as a test team), so the Abu Dhabi win means little to me.

And let's not just worry about 2009. The current security situation is not going to improve anytime soon (It is fast becoming clear that Zardari has no vision or plan to deal with this menace...)....we could be looking at another 2-3 years without any cricket against decent opposition (and by that I mean v Australia, India, SA, SLA and England. I don't even rate NZ as a test team) at home.

We should all be just glad that we w'd get to see some meaningful cricket atlast. I think the PCB should let UAE host all our home games until the security situation improves at home. We were already not playing enough test matches (6-8 tests per year) by today's international standards (Australia, India and England play 12-15 tests/year) and with the current test drought it is now even more imperative that we show some flexibility over our forthcoming international fixtures. To not play India is not an option
